 A college education doesn't mean squat. Esp. if you live where there are no "real good" jobs. It's too easy to say, "Well just move." Not everyone can pack up & afford to move esp. if they have family close by.  College is a CHOICE and always will be because people over 18 are considered adults and can make their own choices, plus college is an expensive commitment that even lots of families, mainly parents cannot afford in this day and age. You can certainly encorage a child in a skill they like but it's up to them what they do w/ it. 

I went to college and I still agree with this. Well said.
