Hi there and welcome!
Unfortunately in Australia PGD/IVF for family balancing reason is banned...stupid government we have... dont get me started on that!
The only way you can have it done in Australia is if their is a genetic reason for it, eg a genetic disease in your family specifically affecting males.
I am also currently looking into the possibility of going to Thailand or US...

Liv - I have no idea how strict they really are on the guidelines but just wanted to wish you the absolute best of luck! I have everything crossed for you. It certainly sounds reasonable to me.
God this country really needs to change it's laws, the amount of women on here alone that would used IVF/PGD if it was available to use is huge. All these women that keep having babies adding t...

Sorry to hear about your son;s condition but thank god it seems so far only minor and manageable. So that was their reasoning for allowing your pgd/ivf?

thank you both for the replies :) so it is possible to use the sorted sperm for IVF though? that would then increase the odds of pregnacy too then I guess? I am just trying to work out the most cost effective way to go about this and hopefully without leaving Australia!

I have been told that we can have DH's sperm frozed, sent to USA, Microsort for sorting, frozen and then sent back here to do IUI with locally. Has anyone done that? or has anyone fallend pregnant using frozen sorted sperm?
The information available and costs are overwhelming and I really dont know which way to go, or which way to beg DH to go should I say lol
Help!!!

I'll also be watching this topic with interest to see how you go. I have been looking on their website and found this:
Can I select the sex of my baby in IVF?
Answer : With the advance in technology, PGD can be used to detect the embryo's chromosome before transfer including the sex chromosome. Only the infertilie patient who has a history of sex-linked inheritary disease will ...

Hi Sarita
Thanks for replying again.
Are you in Sydney?
When are you due to test? must be getting closer....
I have just emailed both GIVF & HRC for more information. Did you go to one of those clinics? I am so overwhelmed with all the information at the moment.
I found the name of a collaborator in one of their sites in Rockhampton in QLD but the si...

Hi Sarita

Hi guys!
I have only just stumbled across this forum and wish I had seenthis earlier so I could have also written a letter. I have everything crossed that the government take this seriously and look at changing our laws. I don't really care even if it is only in one state, I will move there lol
