I have a few....First, I am really proud of myself that I love my boys without abandon. I never wanted boys. It was part of my identity not to want boys. But, instead of clinging to that, I took the time and emotional energy to look at them through a new pair of eyes. In some ways, it would have been easier to be stubborn and wallow in pain. But, I took the higher road, and am so happy and actuall...

Lissa, Your posts have been erased so I have no idea what you first said...But, I just want to agree with the others. You seem to have developed perceptions about your son that are not fair to him. In the long run, what you're imposing on him right now is probably only going to come back to bite you (and him-- self-fulfilling prophecies)...GD and harmful stereotyping about boys doesn't ...

OMG...my ds didn't start pulling himself up on the furniture until he was about 19 months old and then finally started walking at 20 months! I can't imagine it happening at 5 1/2 months...Poor you! It is cute, though....

I have noticed this myself, and I also have noticed that most of the moms have BOYS...In my GD world, I have always taken this as a statement about how boys are so undervalued in our society...But, maybe we're only seeing part of the picture. I'm sure a lot more moms snap than we know about-- maybe more of these moms have a mixture than we think.
The third and fourth editions of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of 1980 and 1994 and the European ICD-10 describe NPD in similar language:
An all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts. Five (or more) of the following...

Maybe her girls are just ugly [6], ok, I'm sure they're not. I think the boy comment was un-called for, but I'll bet she had no idea what she was saying. I always imagined Sweden as a paradise of egalitarian high thinkers. But, it seems you have some of the same issues with putting girls on a pedestal given the comments you get...I definitely would have noticed that comment and it would have bugge...

I'm sure your hair looks fine...While I agree there is no reason your dh can't watch your ds for an hour, I will say that I bring my kids to the salon ALL THE TIME. I just wrap them up in the cape thing so they don't get hairy...I usually nurse while getting snipped, but I'm sure a lollipop or some other sweet would work just as well...You do have really pretty long hair, but I'm sure the shorter ...

Hmmm...do you know who is pushing for this?...I wonder how, if it passes, it will affect things like MS and high tech sex selection. It could be a slippery slope from this to banning high tech...
This won't be popular with you Obama supporters, but please just read this article as I think you can start to understand why so many American's fear having Obama as President. He displays many characteristics of pathological narcissism. Please read it with an open mind and yes it is long and DON"T insult me for its 'editorial' like commentary. I am just tryin...

Well, I guess we'll see how they stack up tonight...The debate's back on...FWIW, I can't imagine Obama doing worse than McCain tonight in terms of eloquence, bumbling, ummm, etc. Whatever you think of him, he's an eloquent guy (wouldn't that alone be a nice change from what we have now)...He's been on the campaign trail a long time, has had LOTS of unscripted moments, plus he was a law...

Gee thanks
I understand why you would think the earth is 100,000 years old, given your idea that he created it the same time he created humans...But, I still don't understand why it would have to be old just because the people he created were old (i.e. adults). All I'm saying...sorry it came out offensively. I really didn't mean to offend.

I don't know...my inclination is that his concern and sense of urgency is all for show, but I guess its conceiveable that he really wants to be part of the discussion about how to handle the financial crisis. I do wonder if it's possible for there to be quick resolution to this, though. I mean, how long is he willing to suspend the campaign? And, how long is the Senate giving itself to debat...

Danna, can you explain yourself here? I know what you're getting at with the associations, but the character and pulling the wool over the eyes, I really don't know what you're talking about. I would like to hear what you're thinking about. And, "he is truly just another politician" - well, aren't they all? If all the "just another politicians" were disqualified from running, we would never ...

I think there are lot of reasons for this, and I don't pretend to know all the reasons. I think part of it is shared culture and learning. Although cultural taboos can be broken down over time, they can also persist if no one ever thinks to criticize them. I also think it's natural to think about things as relatively worse and relatively better. But, I also think different cultures have diff...

We grappled with some of these issues, too...I kept my name, so dh and I have different last names. Ultimately, we decided to hyphenate our kids' last name. My name is the second part of the hyphen, which people have commented is wierd and should come before my husband's (although I can't imagine why). But, for a little while, we (half)seriously considered making up a last name for all of us...

I am 5'4. I haven't weighed myself in forever but I probably weigh about 140-145.My boobs alone probably weigh 5 lbs. [:$] I am small frame and need to lose about 20 lbs. The only real exercise I do is a boot camp-type class on Satur...
