Re: Anyone weaning right now?

I think she's doing fine with it. I am having a hard time not automatically nursing her when I feel engorged...but during the day, it's not as bad. If I skip the night feeding, which I've done a few time when I've had drinks w/ my friends (and then I give her pumped milk), I am DYING at 2-3am. My boobs are so full, they are hard, lumpy and pretty much spraying milk. I know, pretty picture, huh? [l...

Re: Anyone weaning right now?

I guess I am also beginning to wean, though it will most likely be a while before I am 100% done. I am really trying to just nurse at night when getting her down for bed, at 3:30am when she wakes and I take her into our bed (then she'll pretty much nurse from then until 6:30am!) and once, twice tops during the day. Paige is an extremely good eater, so that does help. She eats solid foods like a p...

Good luck Sept 2010 mommies from a Sept 2009 mama!

Just wanted to wish you all good luck with your babies and deliveries. My DD was born September 15th, 2009. I can't believe it's been nearly a year since then! Saying it's gone by fast is an understatement. Love them, kiss them and don't wish any of the time away...even those last LONG weeks of pregnancy. Treasure everything and live in the present! Re: My 4th baby girl has arrived

Congratulations! She is truly stunningly beautiful. So perfect looking, especially for a newborn! (Sorry about the idiot who sent that PM - make sure you report it so they get the boot! We've been having a troll who has been sending terrible PMs and then when they get kicked out, coming back as another name. [8o|])

Crawler pants from Baby Gap

I had such a fun time shopping at the Gap yesterday. DD needed Fall clothes in 12-18 mo size and I found so many cute things at the Gap! I even had a 30% off coupon, so I got some great deals. They have these "crawler" pants that are legging type pants with an attached mini skirt. The pants have some padding on the knees for crawling. I just love them! Here's a photo of my DD in them....

Re: I have a biter!

I just posted on this. Lol. My 11 mo has been biting and I have done two things that have helped.....one, I notice that she is much less likely to bite when she is nursing when shes hungry, so I don't automatically comfort nurse her anymore. I try other things first (that's more difficult to do with a five month old I realize). The second thing that's helped was trying my best to keep my nipple fa...

11 mo old biting while nursing....OUCH!

Paige has been biting me frequently when she nurses. When she's very hungry she won't do it, but when she's just nursing for comfort, she has been biting A LOT lately. I don't think it's teething since she has all 8 of her front teeth - on top and bottom. When she does bite me, I say, ouch! And no bite! Then I end the nursing. But that has not helped. Its been happening for the past 3 days. Pro...

Re: My son has OCD. Any advice?

Have you and AJ read this book? It's called "What to do when your brain gets stuck. A kid's guide to overcoming OCD" http://www.amazon.com/What-When-Brain-Stuck-What/dp/1591478057/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282316724&sr=8-1

Re: My son has OCD. Any advice?

Hi Sara, I don't know a whole lot about OCD, but I just wanted to offer my support. It sounds like it's tough all around, for you, for AJ and even for his siblings. Talk with his therapist....are there exercises he is doing at home to help get through it when he gets "stuck"? All the best to you and AJ!!

Re: Help with choosing Wall Art

i like the 2nd choice better. but it has a very modern look to it and would have to match the decor. for example, it wouldn't look right in a shabby chic room.

Re: Clonidine

My son takes 1/2 pill in the Am and a whole pill at night. It's wasn't really helping his hyper/silly episodes nor was it helping his oppositional and defiant tendencies....he started taking an additional 1/2 pill around noon. I know there is a new med in this same family called Intuniv. I have heard a lot of great things about it and asked my DS's psychitrist to put him on it, but apparently, my...

Re: Pros to having 3 kids

I love having three! I also love the spacing between my 2nd and 3rd child. My older two are fairly self sufficient and helpful with the baby. I really enjoy having the quiet time with her while my older kids are in school. Someone told me that when you're done having kids, you'll know you're done and for me that has been very true. I feel done. I love the kids I have and the dynamics of our fami...

Re: My three year olds speech
I guess I should phone around and ask then - thanks. He does repeat a lot of what is said to him - but it just repeating words - he does not add the words to his vocab and use them at a later date. Another reason people think is talking more than is really is because he echos things he hears without understanding the meaning.
I don't want to add to y...

Is he in the low percentages for height and weight as well? In other words, is his small head in proportion to his body?

Re: Hospital Bag

I brought a carry on rolling suitcase as well. It's easier to have something that rolls.... The only thing I would add to bring is your own underwear. I went out and bought few pairs of big ole' lady undies to wear postpartum. That way they were big enough for the huge pad you wear. The hospital gives these horrid mesh underwear and they were SO, SO, SO uncomfortable! I was so much...

better diet = better behavior?

My kids have been eating increasingly more and more junky food and have both had worse and worse behavior the past few months. Maybe because it's summer and there is little structure (which they seem to do better with), but maybe it *is* their diet. I don't even know where to begin. Should I just cut out the foods with artificial coloring/flavoring and preservitives? Shop at Trader Joes and Whole...

Giving cow's milk in addition to nursing

I know I gave my older children cow's milk in addition to nursing, but with Paige, I am still nursing her a lot. She eats 2 solid meals a day and is nursing every 4 hours and lots at night from 4am until 7am until we get up. (She is pretty much latched on the majority of that time) I am not opposed to giving her cow's milk in the near future, but I am also pumping and can give her my milk when I h...

Re: POOP PHOBIA!!

My younger DS had this as well. He was pee trained for a full year and a half before he was finally poop trained at 4-1/2 years old. He would wear underwear and hold his poop and then ask for a pull up to go in when he needed to go. We tried everything. Truly everything. We refused to give him a pull up (he'd just hold it and make himself sick), we gave lots of fiber foods to soften stool and then...
