My RE said that suppositories are just as good as shots. Do you ladies agree? Does this mean that the other shots are much easier than PIO shots?

How long do I have to wait after giving birth to pursue IVF for family balancing? I would like to start 6 months after delivering....is that too soon or even allowed by the IVF doctors?

After reading most of this post, I wonder why people go into this? This is depressing! Are people using reputable clinics?

Do most people end up in the hospital with OHSS? Or can they draw the fluid off in the doctor's office?
They usually admit you for several days. I was on my way to the hospital, and went to get paperwork from my RE. One of the doctors there checked my bloodpressure and it was crazy high, so they took my straight up to the surg...

Have there been women on here that have IVF babies with congenital malformations?
My doctor did bring this up, a few times, actually. And you should certainly ask questions to help ease your mind.
Some people and literature claim that there's an increased risk, but then others (including my clinic's paperwork) say that statistically the percentage of birth defects in IVF babies is the same (or extremely close to) the percentage in "normally"...

As I read more about this process, I get more overwhelmed. I read last night about the increased risk of birth defects/anomalies with children born from IVF. How did you ladies handle/process this when going into the procedure? Did the doctors discuss this risk with you?

33 is still young and I would not consider donor eggs unless your pretesting shows you to have dominished ovarian reserve (in other words, the eggs of a much older woman). Using donor eggs is much, much more expensive, and of course there are all sorts of emotional issues to work through. I think 3 cycles using your own eggs and your chance of success...

If I do three cycles of IVF/PGD and do not get pregnant...do I have a better chance to get pregnant using donor eggs? I am so desperate for a daughter..willing totry anything. I am 33 years old, husband is 29...no fertility issues.

I too have 3 boys and want a girl so badly. Tried IVF/PGD in Nov. 2010 and not pregnant. 8 eggs retrieved, 7 fertilized -- 1 healthy girl and 2 healthy boys. Transfered the 1 girl and not pregnant. It is hard. And it is A LOT of money. We are trying 1 more time in February and I am praying it works out for us this time ...

I can't go anywhere that I don't get these comments. Okay--this may sound crazy...I am having major GD as I wait for my second son to arrive. Several year ago I told my SIL that I thought I would have all boys,,,,Now, I don't know if I was just speaking out loud about my fears or if I just "knew" somehow that I would have all boys. I am planning for IVF/PGD to try for my girl but I keep wondering if it ia worth it if I just "know" I am g...

Well, you'll have to take two trips and it's pretty costly. Plan to spen between $40,000 and $50,000. There was also a LOOOOTTTTTT of paperwork. BUT, when all's said and done, it's totally worth it :). I could have easily done a couple more rounds of high tech with the amount that we paid to adopt Ashlyn, but we wanted a " sure thing " and my husband felt very strongly...
