Since having my DS2, I was surprised how often some women I know felt entitled to make "jokes" in front of me that put boys down. I went on amazon and found this book "The War Against Boys: How Misguided Feminism Is Harming Our Young Men." I just started reading it but it talks about the emphasis on helping girls, particularly in education, that developed over the past 2...

Congratulations on your sweet family. I, too, was nervous about DS2 but he's so different - more mellow in some ways and more aggro in others than DS1. Totally different little guys which opened my eyes to how much I stereotyped boys based on only having one. Funny in hindsight.

First, you are not coming to the end of your child bearing years! I don't know your FSH levels, etc. but if you're "normal" for 35, you could easily keep going. I had my first at 37 and my second at 40 with no problems conceiving. The odds of Down's for a 40 yr. old is like 1 in 100. For a 35 yr. old it's 1 in 400.
To answer your question about how I know I...

Got a new comment this weekend and I actually came up with a comeback:
We were at a friend's BBQ and the hostess said to her neighbor who is expecting #2 "You're having a boy so you'll have one of each! We have one of each, too. It's the only way to go!" I looked at her and said sarcastically, "Ohhh and I have two boys.... maybe I should give one away?" It made for an awk...

Good question. I just googled "moms of boys" b/c I've been longing for a forum too and found this: http://www.momsofboys.org/ Didn't read much but it doesn't look religious at first glance.
I agree that it helps to let yourself feel sad. There is a loss involved. When I was pregnant with DS1 and had GD, it changed once he was born. GD did not go away c...

Trucks! Congratulations on your big, healthy boy! You've been on my mind. I'm so glad he's here and I'm sorry it's bittersweet that your girl isn't. Wishing you so much love for your sweet family.

My baby isn't even 3 months old yet and i've already heard plenty of comments on him not being a DD. i hear "well, maybe next time" or "two boys, huh?" or "we thought you were having a girl this time. Guess it was just wishful thinking." would they say these comments in front of him if he were old enough to understand? No. And from what other moms of one gender tell me, i can expect this for years...

I didn't find out with my 2nd. It was my idea not to then half way through the pregnancy i was sick of not knowing. By that point my dh was was into it and convinced me not to find out. In the end we both wish we found out bc we had a little gd the day he was born. I would rather have experienced that earlier and prepared for another boy. Bottom line i think is if you truly don't have a preference...

I was just about to post the same topic! That's so funny. I carried ds1 like a basketball and this one like a watermelon, i felt pretty last time and had flowy hair but this time felt ugly and had dry hair, the ring test was right last time and wrong this one, same with every chinese gender calendar i tried. Also i had 2 weeks of ms with ds1 and 10 weeks this time. I thought for sure with these di...
