Re: After Thanksgiving vs after Christmas (better deals?)

I don't think the clothing deals before the holidays are that great.  They put stuff on sale, yes, but it's never the clearance prices I like to shop for.  I get the best deals on clothing at the end of each season, when the store has to clear the past season's merchandise to make room for the next one coming.  Also, I can't really comment on black Friday - I'm the ...

Re: beta hcg MoM from blood draw at NT scan tells GENDER!

Interesting!  I wish I had access to my bloodwork from my NT scan appt. now.  I'm curious what my numbers were when I was pg with dd.

Re: Photo calendars - the perfect holiday gift

I just got mine done and ordered!  That's all several families members ask for for Christmas now are my photo calendars (of the kids, of course).  I tried a new site this year: artscow.com.  The reviews of the quality are good, so I will see when I get them.  Hopefully I will remember this thread and come back to give my opinion of the final product.  They are having ...

Re: Need opinions quick! Another H1N1 vaccine question....

I read on a medical site somewhere (wish I remembered where - that would be helpful, huh?) that if you have had confirmed H1N1, you are immune to it and should not be in danger of getting it again.  I wish I could find that again...although I'm sure all over the web there are conflicting ideas about this.  Sorry, I guess this post has helped at all.[:$] Personally, if I knew my kids&nbs...

Re: Anyone else fixated by pregnant women?

I'm not obsessed, but do get a bit of a jealous twinge when I see a pregnant woman.  I enjoyed my pregnancies for the most part, too. [:-)]

Re: Kind of neat for potty training little boys standing up

Hmm, I wonder how big it is?  And you must have to empty it..,.kind of like a potty seat.  It would have come in handy a few years ago when the boys were training. TFS!

Re: shoes, shoes, shoes

I bought a shoe shelf thingy this summer at a yard sale and it has helped keep some of the less-used shoes organized and in an area.  But, we need to use it more [:P].  We typically take our shoes off at the door when we enter the house, so they are usually contained to one area, but it is a mess of shoes in that one room.  Oh,and my closet is a mess with shoes, too.  I need to...

Re: Pediatrician questions

YES!  And also make a note about how quickly they called you back.  You will be surprised how many times you will need (want) to contact the nurse to ask questions about your sick child, or to see if they can squeeze you in for the day.  The quicker they get back to you (and the nicer they are about it), the better.  That's a good sign of the kind of attention you will receive ...

Re: Pediatrician questions

I know Anastasia will plug this idea as well, but you may want to consider a Family Doctor.  I've had mine since I was in college and it was so convenient for her to be my ob (for all 3 pregnancies), and then my physican for the kids (and still my doctor, too of course!).  I think she is as well "qualified" to take care of young children as the pediatricians I've seen (as ...

Re: What are you reading?

I just finished Gap Creek by Robert Morgan.  Now I've started The Time Traveler's Wife.
I read the Time Traveler's Wife I am interested in what you think about it
It was a motivating read - meaning I kept wanting to read to see what happened.  But it was sad at the end.[:(]  I don't know why I was hoping for a different ...

Re: Shampoo and conditioner..

I can tell you what I do -- I use Burt's Bees shampoo (no chemicals = no burning eyes) and then I use the Johnson's spray-on detangler after tubby.  My dd has very thin hair, too (but lots of it), so it tangles easily.  The detangler is a life-saver.

Re: My dishwasher (literally) stinks. How do I freshen it up?

Thanks so much, ladies!  I don't see any food in the drain...but yes, kind of a fishy smell.  I just sprayed a vinegar/water solution all over it, and will also do the bleach during my next load, and look for the cleaner at the store.  I'm so glad I have some ideas of how to address this now!  My ds1 walked by the (closed) dishwasher this morning and said, "Ewww, what's that sm...

My dishwasher (literally) stinks. How do I freshen it up?

We don't use the dishwasher often (we usually wash all our dishes by hand), but I have been using it a lot when dh is gone, and now I notice that it STINKS!  Since I don't have a lot of auto-dishwasher experience, is there some kind of regular maintenance that I should be doing to keep it from stinking?

I wanted to add that I was able to print the Target coupons more than once!  (Which came in handy because I wanted more than one Hasbro game, and I will be able to use both the Target and manufacturer's coupon for each one!)

Re: I love Old Navy!

I love Old Navy, too. The best is when you can happen upon their store when they have their 50% off clearance prices (they put a big red & white poster in the window).   My heart skips a beat whenever I drive by and see that sign!  Then I go crazy shopping.  Gap does this, too:  call within 14 days of your order date and they will do price adjustments on any items tha...
