Wow, pic on the left is a beautiful and classic boy nub! I don't see a nub in the pic on the right. Twins, so exciting!!How far along were you when these u/s pictures were taken?

Bumping to see if any u/s techs, Charliecats, Coldwater, and/or lovemy4 would be able to provide their input. Thanks again everyone! [HH]

Thanks for all the guesses! Definitely looks boyish to me...although I've seen a handful of confirmed girl nubs that look like this one. It's tricky...and the crazy part is two other u/s techs think it leans a little toward girl. Any other guesses?

This is not my baby, but I told my SIL that I would post her pic to see if I can get any guesses. She was 12 weeks exactly when this picture was taken. Two techs during the scan told her they thought maybe boy, then during the scan changed to thinking girl, then went back to guessing boy, but without certainty. Then two other techs looked at this picture and thought it leaned...

Your first picture is all girl! [XX]
I don't think it's ovaries in your second picture, but I'm not a tech.
Your first picture is 100% what my DD looked like at her 20 week scan. The lines make a Y shape (if you tilt the Y on it's side) or what I've heard some people say on here, that it looks like a "clam shell" shape. All girl, congrats!

I told my friend I'd ask all you experts for confirmation...is this officially a girl? She was 17 weeks on the dot when she had this done. Thanks!

No nub :(

Too bad. [:(] That's what I was thinking too.
I was hoping the nub was that bright white line. Oh well, thank you!

Here's the second picture. It's the same image, but I tried to make it bigger. [:)]

Hi, I was hoping someone could take a nub guess for my friend. Thank you!
I'm going to post two pictures from 12 weeks 4 days. Here's the first image:

NJC- My son is 2 years old, almost 3. Despite what my dad thinks, he's not exactly at the point of looking at breasts and skateboarding into a lake. [:@]
BeebsNBubbs- It's definitely a funny e-mail although I don't love all the boy stereotypes in it. Still entertaining though. But, like you said, it's upsetting in my situation bec...

My parents have GD with my son. They love girls and only girls. They never had a boy and never wanted a grandson. Well, they got one from me. I also have girls, and my parents are obsessed with my girls, but my poor son is constantly referred to as "the boy" and "such a boy." Drives me NUTS. [8o|][yuck][:'(]
So, today I get an e-mail forward from my father. ...

this was taken at 32 weeks I think
Needs to be a "potty shot" and none of the pictures posted are potty shots, so the gender is not visible. Sorry about that...good luck!

Girl! [DD]
This is exactly what my DD's 20 week u/s picture looked like. It confused me too because I didn't see the "three lines" I was looking for. Trust me, she's all girl!

It looks like the tech was measuring the femurs, so the genital area is not imaged. Sorry.
This exactly. Unfortunately you don't have a picture of the genital area because it's a femur measurement. Good luck!

From the FAQ at the top of the forum:
When Should I get a Gender Scan?
I recommend waiting until after 16 wks if you are a thin mom, and after 18 wks if you are a bigger boned mom. Even then, you may have a stubborn baby. Under 15 wks, both genders can still have a nub...a small penis like protuberance. It can make the genitalia very ambiguous. If you want to start taking tag...

Looks girly, but it's blurry and it also looks like it could be a "too far back" shot. If that's the case, it would be hard to know for sure if it's a boy or girl because the lines could be from the scrotum. I'm not a tech, so I don't know for sure if it is indeed a "too far back" shot. Hopefully Charliecats will have an answer for you.
Sometimes techs can't capture a clear shot...

Sorry to ask but i am sure that the date on the scan says 23rd January 2007.????????
It does. This confused me too and then I looked at the date she posted the picture and started this thread, and it was back in 2007. It appears the person who posted above your post "bumped" this old post. I think that explains what happend. [:)]

The first pic looks girly, but it's not a perfect shot. The second shot wasn't very good at all, in my opinion. I'm sure the tech saw the girl parts clearly, but was unable to capture them well for a picture. From what I hear, that's very normal. It's hard to get a good shot sometimes, but that doesn't mean that the baby isn't a girl.
I'd trust your tech and assume ...

VERY girly...especially the second shot. The second picture shows the little "clam shell" which is ALL girl. Looks just like my baby #3 (a girl) at 20 weeks.

Nub looks very flat to me...I think girl! It's hard to say for certain since the spine is curled, but my first thought was girl. Good luck!
