Re: My sweet baby girl does not deserve all of this....

Hi, Like many others reading your posts, I am deeply saddend (and in tears), and my heart goes out to you and your family and to your baby girl. You are in such a difficult position, one that most of us will never face, but many of us have some experince of through family or friends who have had similar problems. I know of 3 cases amongst my friends and family, two friends took the very...

Re: Scaring... Did you know..........?

Hi, As a science nut, I did know babies in utero don't scar, and you're right, it's amazing! Maybe one day, if science can work out how, it will be possible to heal people of scaring or burns injury but telling the body to re-activate that ability.... that would be truly amazing! .....And I agree with PP,no more stretch marks!!

Re: Am I done?

Hi horsey mom,I'm sorry your feeling this way - and I know excactly how you  feel, I am at that point too. But try this................where do you see yourself in a couple of years, 5 years? if it's with another child in your life, then you are probably not ready to give up yet.I feel conflicted, the whole "yes I do want it, no I don't" thing going round my head. A lot of it is fear of...

Re: how much caffeine do you consume a day?

With DS 1,2 and 3, I drank a lot of coffee (this was long ago, youngest is almost 12, and before the studies suggesting m/c risk), probably 5 or 6 cups a day. I had a (small) glass of wine now and again. Had raw eggs, cheese, pate. With my preg this year, I stopped coffee, tea and cola (exept the caffine free ones), no alcohol, raw eggs, pate etc etc, but still, sadly had a m/c.There is a re...

Re: False alarm, chemical pregnancy

Sorry to hear about your chemical preg. I know some people prefer not to test early as they'd rather not know (and I can see the point, as the m/c rate in the first couple of weeks (round about your period due date) is very, very high, more than half even in younger women), But my view is, I want to know! I've had several chemicals myself, and I try to take the positive from that........I'm ...

Re: scared I'll get BFP and I'll lose it again

Hi jwm-moose, Oh yes, obsess, obsess, obsess. That sounds just like me, every tiny symptom turned into A SIGN. I buy my LH (I assume these are the same as OPK? For ovulation anyway) sticks by the truckload off the internet, so they are cheap enough to waste on my POAS addiction!

Re: Jamie Oliver Swaying?!

Hands off dads - too many of them are hands off! Probably not to fair to slag off Jamie for working too much (hard to judge that from tv appearences and I'm sure he has flunkies to do most of the work........), but too many men work such long hours, my DH included, it makes it kind of hard for them.

Re: Jamie Oliver Swaying?!

Hi Bluesky, I know what you mean, though I'm looking at it from the other direction - it's all boys I have. I know when I had my second, I didn't mind so much, but with the third it was full GD, and I'm glad I knew he was a boy from the 20wk scan - I had time to get over it. Mind you, I'd never be without any of them, I just want my girl too.

Re: I got a BFP!

Congratulations! I saw your other post yesterday, so was looking out for this one!I haven't done a second test yet, might do tomorrow, but I did another LH stick this morning (as I said previously, you can use ovulation sticks as a cheap "fun" preg test during the boring tww!), and this mornings one went real dark in 10 seconds (yesterdays took a couple of mins). And I felt sick at the gym (...

Re: Jamie Oliver Swaying?!

HI Blue sky,70 bags of crisps a week and plenty of other salty crap! No wonder that woman had a boy. I'm ttc a girl and you are supposed to avoid salt for that, so presumably high salt is good for TTC boys? If it doesn't kill you.Sorry you are feeling so much GD, I know it's so difficult when you get all those why me? Why not me? Question, and there are no good answers.

Re: scared I'll get BFP and I'll lose it again

Hi iwm-moose, Sorry to hear about your m/c. It's still early days, don't be too worried (stress is not good for TTC!), fairly typical to take several months tc. I know what you mean about the clock ticking, I will turn 41 in Jan and like you I want "just one more"I'm in the tww, and things are looking good, lots of symptoms and a VERY faint positive test -I'm not counting that as a BFP unless I ge...

Re: does this look like an evap line to you?

As a compulsive POAS addict, I'd say thats a positive, but if it took a couple of hours to develop, then the HCG must have been very low. I'd say something has implanted, but only time will tell if it's a sticker. Wait two or three days, and if it's darker, faster, then it's a BFP. If it stays very, very pale, then sorry, it's a chemical/very early m/c (I've had several, so I know how it goes). &n...

Re: After 18 months of trying we find out whats wrong

Sorry, when you say big fat 0, do you mean nothing was found wrong, or that there was a very low sperm count? If sperm count low, do they know WHY. It would be important to know why - there might be things you can do to raise it. If he smokes, for example, get him to stop right now! It has a very bad effect on sperm production, the toxins lower production and damage the ones that are produced. If a...

Re: another opk question

I never get a dark positive (like it says in the instructions), but I know from using lots of them that I will get very faint lines in the few days before LH surge, and darker lines (but still faint) for a couple of days before O. You should not use FMU, do it between 10am and 10pm (the instructions on my tests say you don't produce LH at night).

Re: Are spermicide accident babies girls?

If you concive while using any method of contraception that is designed to kill sperm or stop implantation, girls are more likely. "Male" sperm are more fragile, and male conceptus are more fragile too.I am NOT recomending any of these as methods of TTC girls of course, but women exposed to toxins in the environment (living near landfills or factories), who smoke, etc, have more m/c and more...

Re: Falling gas prices! What does gas cost where you live? (Poll)

$6.55 PER GALLON today. Here in the UK, petrol (gas) is about £1.00 per litre, which is about £3.80 ($6.55) for an American gallon (your gallons are smaller than ours!). Just a few weeks ago, we were paying £1.25 per litre. It's fairly typical for our fuel prices to be about double yours. Sadly, falling petrol prices right now are not good, it's a sign that industry isn't buying fuel, the economy is...

Re: I am going crazy! Can you help me with a name!??!

Both are lovely names. I always thought it was important to look ahead and think how the childs future friends would shorten the name, and see if we liked the shortened version too! So, Alexandra might end up Sandy or Alex or even Xandra (oh, I LIKE that one actually!), Caroline might stay Caroline, or Carol?

scared I'll get BFP and I'll lose it again

Does anyone else have mixed feelings about TTC?I had my last dose of soy last night (fewer headaches etc if you take it at night), DH and I have been taking our calcium, magnesium and cranberry, all the usual TTC DD suplements, I have pains in my side (typical O symptoms for me), and I'd say going by experience that I will O in the next 24/48 hours. SO WHY DO I FEEL SO HOPELESS and awfu...

Re: PTA = sweet ladies.......NOT!!!

Hi claire2b, NO you are not alone in these experiences! I come from half way round the world to you, and I could have written your post! So it's just people playing games, they get in these cliques and if you are the "wrong" type, you get excluded, it's like office politics. Many times I have felt excluded from school activities - at my kids first school, which was in a very deprived area, I ...

Re: TMPOB was correct for me!!!

Yes, I'd like to stick up for TMPOB too. DH is a doctor and I have Pure Science degree, and yes, the methidology is possible and valid. Sadly I think the big problem with this test is the fact that it's done at home and if the instructions are not followed properly, the sample can be contamimated with y chromosomes. They test the white part of the blotting paper as well as the blood, to chec...
