Re: Hi Jan 2011 ladies! where is everyone?

Hi!!!!  I still pop in once in a blue moon.  My little man is doing great---he does the army crawl all over the house, but prefers to walk with us holding his hands.  Can't believe how ready he is to do things.  His 3 sisters just adore him.  After starting solids it looks like he has some pretty severe food allergies :(  It appears he can't handle the protein o...

Re: Big family-small budget ,small family-big budget?WWYD (poll)

oh i never said i don't appreciate their education, i was simply pointing out that college degrees does not make one better than the others around them. what about the man who fixes your car, or the one who cuts grass, the ones who pick up your garbage or unclogs your toilet...are they lesser than the engineer or the architect or pediatrician because of their lack of education? or are they snub ...

And that is what matters. We only have "extra" things because we were together for nearly 4 years w/o children. [/quote] :) yep, we were the same way...but high tech 9 years ago is dinosaurs compared to today, LOL

Re: Big family-small budget ,small family-big budget?WWYD (poll)

i've been following this post and have enjoyed and appreciated both sides. I just gave birth to our 4th...are we done? I don't know. I'm sure that we'll figure it out along the way...I definitely wouldn't mind more. I'm a SAHM with a degree in Sociology and minor in Psychology. My DH has a 2 year tech school degree. I'm all for college, to an extent. I see more and more people who come out ...

Re: What fabric inserts would you recommend?

sorry this is a bit late...i've been busy with my new LO i've actually been making our own CD's so I'll tell you what I know: inserts you need an absorbant material such as terrycloth, flannel, microfiber (you can get the microfiber towels from walmart's automotive section but they CAN NOT touch baby's skin...they will dry it out), bamboo fleece or other bamboo materials, hemp, etc. polar f...

grrrr, please help

my LO is 8 days old today. born 9lbs 1oz (i was give nearly 3/4 bag of iv fluids, have heard this can increase birthweight) today he is right around 8lbs 2oz give or take. he's pooping / peeing good, latch is pretty good. why is he still losing weight? i'm getting frustrated and worried and the peds are already talking formula :( he's my 4th have bf all of them, they all start out big and the...

Had my son!!

he's 1 week old now, 9lbs 1oz and 21 inches long,. he's such a good good baby, I love him to pieces. Labor was great, didn't deliver in the car this time! yay!! we did it natural again, labored at the hospital for about 6 hours and when he decided to come he made a quick entry! the nurse had just checked me and i was a tight 8 according to her, after that my body took over and just started pu...

Re: confussed with what midwife has written in notes!

2cm length is stating how long the cervix is...shortening of the cervix is effacement. 2-3 spines is location of baby in birth canal.  in the US i think they call it stations and use a range of something like -4 to +4 (the neg #'s = higher the baby, positive #'s baby is lower/emerging)

Re: So frustrating...

i've been doing this for 2 weeks now.  it sucks sooooo bad.  and now here I sit, 5cm dilated, 70% effaced, hospital is 30 MILES away and we're looking at a snow storm that could bring 7+ inches of snow starting tonight (we live in the south, no one knows how to handle snow!!!).  dh and i dtd again last night and I just KNEW it would get things rolling, but no.  still here, stil...

Re: So frustrating...

my night was pretty much the same :(  tons of contractions, tons of pressure.  get the stuff ready to go and my shoes on and they stop instantaneously.  this is only like the, oh 5th or 6th time that has happened over the last 2 weeks.  my poor DH thinks I'm losing it.  i feel for ya...hang in there

Re: Are you dialated or effaced??

4-5cm dilated 70% effaced, was stripped and have been having start and stop contractions all day.  very frustrating

Re: False contractions/labour driving me nuts - any 3rd time mums experience?

no kidding MrsZee!  my last child was born in the car en route to the hospital (30 miles away)  i had ctx that didn't feel real and then my water broke and she was here within 15 min!!!  I DON'T want to do that again!

Re: False contractions/labour driving me nuts - any 3rd time mums experience?

yep, add me to the list!!!  baby #4 is really throwing me for a loop!  DH and I DTD last night to see if we could get things moving along.  I had contractions 5 min apart from 12am to 5am just for them to stop and not come back [:S]  same way they did when i was at the hospital last weekend.  at this point i'm not sure i'd recognize labor if it did show up.

Re: hey all, a quick check in...

everything is going good!  i DO remember you :)  I went into labor on christmas day but didn't dilate far enough to continue to force it so they sent me home.  I'm 38 weeks today so I feel a bit better about it if he is born now.  pregnancy has been good, felt great and no problems, just ready to get it over with now.  I'm so glad you got your little boy!!!  that is g...

Re: never thought i'd say this...

i'm there.  i don't think it is the fact that we don't appreciate the process or the wonder of the life inside us, but for you this is your third (right?) this is my 4th...the novelty of it all has worn off, with a greater # of children at home there is a greater amount of work to be done and attention to be given out by us as moms.  it is exhausting and frustrating all at the same time....

spent christmas in L&D...

our last dd was born in the car so this time i wanted to play it safe! started losing some plug and having mild ctx yest. morning so we went in yesterday after lunch.  labored until middle of the night until it stopped.  they didn't want to force it as i'm still only 37 weeks so i came home today.  dilated to 4 and banished to bed/couch by dh, lol.  glad to be home but hate kno...

thank you ladies!!  i wrote many down on our list...seems like he's coming soon.  EDD of Jan 12 but i'm already 1-2cm/60% effaced, don't think it'll be too much longer now [hearts]

just need to whine...

i rarely post anymore (name used to be prayingforason) but i need an outlet.  my little one is due pretty much anytime between now and first week of jan, lots of ctx, he's dropped so i feel tons of pressure etc.  it is christmas break, all 3 girls are home SICK WITH THE FLU!!!  OMG, the fevers are relentless, i'm being coughed all over, up all night each night with cold rags, i...
