We just had our first and kept the gender a secret, mostly because of GD. When people would ask "boy or girl" I would quickly say, "it's a baby!" or "it's one or the other" and try to imply that they were asking a silly question. These replies usually changed the subject from gender.

I agree. Two weeks ago I gave birth to our first, a daughter, and as my husband and I have talked about our GD for months I do understand what you mean Saddad, although it is sexist and whiny. My husband is the same way!

I absolutely loathe when people try to predict what's growing inside YOUR body. It makes me want to predict what's going on inside their body.. maybe some athersclerosis? I find out tomorrow (by delivery!) if this is my son or not.. and everyone at my work has been betting on girl and calling it my little girl.

You have every right to cry. It sounds like you're family is being really obnoxious and not helpful. Do they know that their comments hurt you? If I were in your position I would have to say something to my MIL.

why is it that so many abnormals are found during IVF/PGD?
the rate of abnormals seems to be much higher than what would naturally occur?

try taking 600 mg ibuprofen 45 minutes prior. (at least that's what I do for patients before giving a shot!)
..unless ibuprofen is somehow contraindicated!

I am a newbie too! My DH and I are planning to go HT in about a year. We want to go high tech because this will be our last child. We thought about swaying - but that isn't free - and then if you get an opposite you have one more child to raise which in the long run is more expensive that PGD/IVF.

My US is scheduled for Monday. My nub wasn't very clear and received a mix of guesses. The tech at 13 weeks used the potty/toilet shot to say she saw three lines. I have almost convinced myself that she was wrong because she used the potty shot view rather than nub shot.
