My little guy did that for a good month after my let down kicked in because I have a strong let down and he couldn't handle that much milk that fast. My lc just said to either wait it out til he adjusted or let me milk drain into a towel at let down til flow slowed. She said at 3-4 months a baby will adjust to a strong let down.

Wondering where all my december mommies went after we delivered and how everyone is doing.

That's extremely common and it could be as simple as more milk ducts in one side compared to the other. I am a prime example...my right side produces at most a half ounce to ounce a few times a day if pumped whereas I bf exclusively with from my left side (3-5oz). Dd2 went 7 months exclusively bf before I added solids. There is no rhyme or reason to why there is a difference but it exists. To my k...

I had this problem with my first. Lanolin was really helpful early on and I was recommended to make sure to dry my nipple of excess milk before putting a pad against it or pulling my bra up so that the nipple wouldn't stick to the fabric and pull as it dried. I thoroughly agree to keep nursing...you can even take a pain reliever to help with some of tne pain too. My lactation consultant said the p...

I'm glad you are staying positive about it. My mil couldn't bf either. My mom was a pro at it and here I struggle with it. My biggest problem is I literally produce only in my left breast though my right goes through engorgement pains and minor leaking (I produce at most a half oz a couple times a day). So I have had to nurse exclusively from my left side for all 3 children. Keep staying positive ...

Dani, i agree with the use of fenugreek (though some women it just doesnt work). I havent read anything that contraindicates its use this early. I have been using the mother's milk tea on occasion just in case and i recently read that a bowl of oatmeal a day can also help. I'm glad that no one seems to be struggling too badly though. My breasts are also more sore this time and Christopher's latch ...

My little guy is doing pretty well. He too was really sleepy for the first 24hrs. His latch is ok though if he's really hungry he tries to suck my nipple in resulting in his top lip rolling in and causing a little pain til I roll it out. I also had to supplement until my milk came in and even then it wasn't enough to fight the jaundiceso I ended up having family come help with the girls for a few ...

I know several of us had talked about previous struggles with breastfeeding and hopes that this time would go well. How is everyone doing? Successes? Anyone have to make the switch to formula?

Sorry ladies, I know I haven't posted in a while. After my finals finished I got so wiped from being on the computer and doing last minute Christmas baking with my oldest dd that I literally just had no energy to get on the computer. But here is our story with Christopher's arrival.Dec 20th I had my regular prenatal at 4pm and found out I was 1cm dilated and 70% effaced. I had been having de...

So boards seem very quiet. Hope everyone is doing well. sahmsinger and Blondies I hope your inductions were successful and as smooth as possible and that you are currently holding you beautiful babies. I am anxiously awaiting my grades from my classes...not to mention a slightly stubborn baby. Dh says that the little guy is just being shy like him and probably staying in where it is warm si...

My next appt is Dec 20th.Ob decided not to do a cervical yesterday as he was certain that he would have stimulated the start of labor and he wasn't comfortable with doing that yesterday...wants me to get to next week unless I go on my own before. On the 20th he is having his np do a more aggressive check to see if she can start things so that I'm not in the hospital over Christmas. He did te...

So I have never tried nipple stimulation as a means to help things along and, everything I have read has tons of different opinions. Anyone who has used it and it worked? If so, what did/do you do exactly as I would like to try it out.

I know you all probably don't want to hear about my school woes, but this is the last time [worried]. I am officially finished with my final and my classes. I should be happy I know and while I did manage to have no problems with writing 4 of the timed essays, the last one I REALLY struggled with (lack of information or explanation in both book and lecture plus question was not clear as...

Thanks for the encouragement twotreasures...when you posted the final was still not up and actually didn't even get posted until midnight last night. What pisses me off the most is that she had told us she was formatting it one way and decided last minute to completely change the format and division of points...not to our benefit. I just finished half of it and did really rather well not con...

myecg, definitely hope everyone gets to feeling better and that you are coming down with something too. Awww! Congratulations, she's beautiful.Blondies, definitely hope the sweep and stretch does the trick for you. [HL] I

my arms and so want to be done being pregnant. My mom actually walked me
around for a bit this evening. Last night I was up for 2hrs with
contractions that were frequent and uncomfortable...

Thanks for the encouragement! I did manage to get one of my finals completed. Didn't do as well on half of it as I would have like but didn't do horribly. The essay portion of it I think I nailed and will find out in the next wk or 2. My last final is Thursday if I make it there. Today has been filled with a lot of contractions (more than I've had the past several days) and all of them stron...

How are you doing? Did bub flip or just move into a really awkward position? I can imagine that you must be pretty scared about CS and the possibility of a breech baby. If little man comes before my finals are done I will definitely be asking for an extension. The good thing for me is that both of my instructors know that I am very pregnant and both know that I am a good student. I literally only have the finals to take as I have already completed every other assignment and large project so the only thing they would have to do is keep the online finals avai...
