Re: 2nd Beta, bleeding, good times

I'm so glad your beta was great!  The bleeding is scary, no doubt, but with good looking betas it probably is just a side effect from the estrace.  When there's something wrong with the baby, it usually shows up in the beta.  Lots and lots of IVF pregnancies seem to have uneventful bleeding.  Congrats again on your sweet little guy - I hope the betas continue to look great!

Re: Beta Results 10dp5dt

What a great, strong number!  Congratulations!  Try not to worry too much about twins - there can be a big range for singletons.  How long until your first ultrasound?

Mosaicism and other genetic stuff

So I've been talking with a local RE about doing my FET in a couple months, and she's had some less than positive things to say about my embies for various reasons.  I spoke to Dr. Potter on the phone last night to get his input on this and he disagrees with nearly everything she's saying . . . so I'm confused!   I want to cycle here, but not if it's going to hurt my chanc...

Re: Timing dilemma

My hcg was down to 8 last Thursday when I did the check up with my OB.  My RE wants me to repeat it in 10 days since they said they've seen it go back up on occasion and want to be sure it hits 0.  It's nearly down to 0 though. That's a really good idea!  I will call and ask about it tomorrow.  I'll also ask about the healing time after a D&C (for the uterus).  Pe...

Timing dilemma

I have a question for you all about the timing of my FET.  I had my D&C 3 weeks ago tomorrow for a blighted ovum, and have 5 girls on ice which I cannot wait to use for an FET (not all at once of course!).  If I want to cycle in December I need to get AF by this Sunday, which is only CD27 post D&C, so it's not likely she will arrive in time.  I talked with the nurse at the...

Re: When did you get AF after high tech BFN or miscarriage?

Thanks for your responses.  It's looking like I was being overly optimistic that AF would show early.  The waiting sucks.  I'm just starting to feel better after everything that's happened and am so looking forward to doing the FET.  I have a good friend and my SIL that are expecting baby girls the first week in January and deep down I suppose I was hoping to be pregnant b...

Re: When did you get AF after high tech BFN or miscarriage?

Whoa - really?  That's a really long cycle.  I wonder if a woman's body needs to get the beta down to 0 before it can start a normal cycle.  It almost sounds like that's what happened with your first cycle since you O'd about 2 weeks after your beta got down to 0.  Not good news for a December cycle!   Thanks for letting me know though.  I've been runni...

When did you get AF after high tech BFN or miscarriage?

I just heard from my local clinic that I need to get AF by October 25 (which will be 27 days after the D&C) if I want to cycle in December.  They close the office on December 18 for the holidays.  My cycles are usually 28-30 days long so I doubt I'll make the cut, but wondered what affect the D&C would have.  I have been temping and have not Oed yet and I'm on CD18 today.&nb...

Re: Urgent question - need advice!

Definitely talk with Lori to double check on this, but if you're talking about the estradial valerate that you do startng the night of ER you do that in the top, outer quadrant of your butt.  My sister is an NP, and she explained it like this: divide your butt cheek into four quadrants, then divide the upper outer quadrant again in to four quadrants and do the shot in the upper...

Re: Got the results of the genetic testing from the D&C

I believe this is correct, although we never considered the 24 probe so I'm not sure if there's any difference there.  I'm sure some other ladies can pipe in. I know for the 2 vs 5 vs 9 probe they only remove one cell.  We opted out of the higher probes because of the possibility of false positives.  I actually decided that I would rather miscarry than discard a potentially health...

Got the results of the genetic testing from the D&C

It was an abnormal female - she had 45 chromosomes instead of 46.  The paperwork said that this accounts for 99% of spontaneous abortions, which seems extremely high, but it comes straight from genzyme - the lab that did the testing. I'm not sure if this is good or bad news.  I meet with my local RE in a couple weeks to discuss, and will also send the paperwork to HRC to get their opini...

Re: INTRALIPIDS ANYONE???

Great information Michaela - thank you!  I just had the discussion with my OB today about clotting studies and immune testing that needs to be done before our FET.  I'm going to print this out for my consult with my RE in a couple weeks.

Re: Do embryos that have had a cell removed for PGD fare worse than non-PGD embryos after freezing?

Thanks for the responses and the PMs - they definitely give me more hope.

Re: Day 3 Report

Good luck!  I wanted to add that of 11 embies go to PGD, 1 was undeterminable and the other 10 were girls thanks to MS.  With MS on your side you have a great chance that all 3 are girls.  (BTW - our sort was only 82% and we still had all those girls.)

Re: Do embryos that have had a cell removed for PGD fare worse than non-PGD embryos after freezing?

You wouldn't.  This RE does gender selection, but not at the rate that HRC does, so most of her patients are probably infertility patients.  What freezing method is HRC currently using, and what does this mean (is it good or bad in comparison to the SIRM example)? I looked back at the surveys and quite a few women have had successful pregnancies with frozen, PGD embryos, so that's a...

Do embryos that have had a cell removed for PGD fare worse than non-PGD embryos after freezing?

I met with my local RE a couple weeks ago to discuss the possibility of transferring my embryos from HRC so I could cycle locally for my FET.  She brought up a piont I hadn't heard before:  when a cell is removed from an embryo for PGD, then it is later frozen, it doesn't thaw (and implant??) as well as an embryo that has not had the cell removed for PGD.  She said particularly for ...

update

I've been staying away from the boards completely since last Thursday and it's been a huge help in getting me to focus on other things.  The ultrasound showed a sac, but no baby, so I'm having a D&C on Tuesday.  It's been very sad, despite knowing this was how it would end up.  They're going to do genetic testing on the tissue to determine if the baby had a chromosomal...

Re: July/August HRC ladies

Mine was 82.8%, and all 10 embryos were girls.  Kind of surprising, but I'm not complaining!  On anotther note, our motility was awful - around 25% before MS.  I wonder if that's the reason only 12 of the 18 mature eggs fertilized?

4th beta - UPDATE

Geez, I feel like I've been doing these beta posts for weeks now!  It feels like it should be titled "50th beta!" So the number today was 823.  On Monday it was 310.  It keeps creeping up, but not going where it should.  The doubling time is every 68 hours or something.  Last time it was every 52 hours I think.  I'm starting to lose track. I had scheduled a follow u...

Re: does having pcos (or appearance of pcos) mean microsort will decline you?

Also wanted to add that if you do have PCOS Dr. Potter will put you on metformin to help with both egg quality and reduce the risk of miscarriage.  He'll likely order a glucose tolerance test where they measure glucose and insulin levels before and after drinking a sugar drink.  I was slightly insulin resistant, but didn't want to regret not taking the metformin and end up with poor qual...

Re: does having pcos (or appearance of pcos) mean microsort will decline you?

I have PCOS and endometriosis and was accepted into Microsot.  I think for MS they want to be sure there isn't a family history of any sort of birth defects.  I wouldn't worry about the PCOS at all with regard to MS.  Dr. Potter knows I had it and he changed my protocol slightly because of it.  Be sure you disclose this to him since it will likely make a difference in how ...

I've been checking in all day hoping for a good update - so glad Emma's doing well.  I'll keep you two in my prayers.

Re: Sharing my Happy Ending

Congratulations on your family being complete and your baby girl.  What a wonderful, encouraging story.  It reminds me of what my husband said when we found out that we were pregnant with our MS/IVF/PGD baby - "It just goes to show you that raw ambition can get you anywhere!"  Here's to all of us that keep pushing forward despite the set-backs, and end up with the child of our ...

Re: 3rd beta

I had normal hcg levels with my 2 healthy pregnancies, and with the miscarriage the hcg dropped quickly.  I don't think I'm a low hcg producer, or at least I wasn't in the past.  Is this most likely an abnormal embryo struggling to thrive?  When will it end on it's own?  I would imagine that the only option Dr. P would give is to keep taking the supplements and see what an ultr...

3rd beta - UPDATE

It's 310.  Why am I stuck in this limbo?  It was 93 on Thursday, so that's a doubling time of 55 hours.  It's not out of the game, but still not doubling on time.  My nurse is going to check with Dr. Potter tomorrow morning when he's back in the office and see what he wants to do.  I'm very confused and torn.  I want this to move forward or end.  And it seems to ...
