ICSI also makes sure that only one sperm fertilizes / attaches to the egg. In reality, several sperm are "attacking" the egg at once, and in rare cases a biopsy (PGD) could examine the data from the sperm that DIDN'T successfully fertilize the egg, not the one that did. In which case, you would get incorrect PGD results, which would defeat the whole purpose.I wasn't thrilled about doing it (it too...

Same exact thing happened to me. It took about a month to pass. Don't worry, you will be okay - give it a little while. Deep breaths.

Your child will 100% be a blessing to you. My gender disappointment was EXTREME, right from the start. Never wanted a boy, never wanted anything to *do* with a boy. I'm still not a fan of little boys. But MY boys? Whole 'nother story. :-) They're fantastic, and I love them as deeply as I could have ever dreamed. I promise, there's nothing you can do to control that mama-love. Even if you wante...

Either way, you will be fine. If you are strong enough to leave a lousy relationship then you're strong enough for anything. Remember: this child won't be "that gender." They will be YOUR child, and that makes all the difference in the world. You are going to be FINE. Just deep breaths, focus on getting your life straight, and I promise that an amazing gift is headed your way, no matter what the g...

It just depends on where you live. I called all the fertility clinics in my area, asked which did family balancing, asked for costs, researched statistics...there's no way we can cover that info for the whole country. It won't be hard to find, just use Dr. Google to find all the clinics nearby! Good luck!

Hello and welcome! I don't want to read and run. I recommend you sit for a spell and read back through the last year or so of entries and take some notes. Most, if not all, of your questions will be answered and then some. Glad you're here!

He's stupid and short-sighted not to give you your money back now and pray you don't ask for more! I would consult an attorney (if you haven't already). Best to you!

Thank you. Trying to stay cool. Told the boys tonight and they're ecstatic. I sure hope this works out for all of us. I wish I could come have a scan where you are just for reassurance! I am going to email my nurse tomorrow and see if they can do one more scan next week just to set me at ease. They're sick of me but I'm sure they can suck it up once more. Maybe if I show up and just pretend I thou...

Thank you, thank you - I really appreciate you taking the time. I did have an ultrasound at 6 weeks 2 days - if I remember right, baby measured 6 week 1 day and they could see a heartbeat but didn't measure it. I don't know about actual measurements in terms of length. Honestly they have seemed very unconcerned and inexact the whole time. They didn't measure the heartbeat today - he just eyeballed...

Sorry to cross-post but I wasn't sure where to find you!!So I had my last ultrasound at my fertility clinic this morning and have been released to my OB (though I don't have one yet, working on it.) I was planning on telling everyone today but find myself nervous about one finding from this morning.Heartbeat was in the 140s, no problem. Doc seemed very unconcerned with the babe. But he measured th...

It is complicated. For sure.
First you have to decide: do you want another CHILD or do you want a DAUGHTER? For me, I was happy with our two and decided if we were going to go through the headaches of raising another kid I only wanted to bother if we were getting to have the experience of raising a girl this time. So that meant that "natural" TTC was out for us.
Then you have to decide if yo...

Had my last appointment with my fertility clinic this morning and everything looks fine. I'm 8 weeks today. Baby measured 7 weeks at one measurement and 7+4 at another; my doctor says it's completely normal and isn't even 1% worried so I'm trusting him. Heartbeat in the 140s. No more bleed. So that's it, I guess I'm pregnant! We're telling the boys tonight and outing ourselves on Facebook; I'm a ch...

I'm so sorry you're filled with dread right now, I understand in a way because I've had 4 losses so PG is always scary for me, I know after multiple IVF cycles it is probably that X 1,000! Praying your little girl is a sticky and you have an uneventful and boring pregnancy! :)
I live in the DC area too and have been planning on going to GIFV in Fairfax...I didn't know o...

Agree. I wasn't comfortable with the MS technology and lack of approval and the sperm manipulation. We went the "old fashioned" way. :-)

Sorry for the delayed response! I'm 37 and cycled at George Washington fertility in DC.
I feel mixed about giving you hope. This was a long, expensive route. We are lucky to be in a financial position where we could mostly pay as we went (since it went over 2 years) but we definitely made compromises to pull it off. We think it was worth it, and had resigned ourselves to having spent i...

Starr!!!!! Hello! So I went back into our old PMs and I did send you the website to my blog - see if you can find it and send me a message through that! I cannot wait to catch up!
Update: So Ultrasound #2 this morning went much better. The bleed is gone! Baby measures 4 mm, 6 weeks 1 day, so pretty darn close (I'm 6 weeks 2 days). My beta was 10,998 (doubling time 61 hours). And they found a h...

What happened Thursday? I hope are doing well : ([/quote]
Thank you for checking on me!
The ultrasound thursday showed a sac measuring the right size, in the right place. No heartbeat but that wasn't expected at 5 weeks 2 days. Beta kicked butt at 1638. The problem is that there's a bleed around the fetus and they just don't know what's going to happen - it could ...

Thank you everyone! I'm trying to keep the faith. Zora, just post your number if it was REALLY similar to mine, otherwise just tell me you can't find it. :-)
Will keep breathing, keep counting my blessings, and update on Thursday with (hopefully) good news. Thanks again ladies!

Sorry to cut and paste but I'm all worked up right now:
So the nurse just called and was all "Well, it's *close* to what we want to see."
Beta is 561, which is a doubling time of 54 hours from my last beta of 120 on Wednesday the 14th. So now we have:
3/12/12 (8DP5DT, 13 DPO): 55
3/14/12 (10DP5DT, 15 DPO): 120
3/19/12 (15DP5DT, 20 DPO): 561
When I told the nurse it was right in-betw...

You are such a sweetheart, and you've been through so much too. Ugh. Do the doctors have any idea why your transfers aren't sticking? What's your plan for what comes next?
And trust me, I'm not patient. But the last 4 weeks have been so so hard, I just wanted a day without too much worry. At some point I'm going to have to just let it go and hope for the best, so I'm trying to embrace that. I...

Thank you so much for checking on me! I woke up today and realized that I didn't want to ruin a fun outing with my boys just WAITING for the phone call with my number, so I decided to skip it. I'll go in Monday or Tuesday and update then. I have some good symptoms - boobs are insanely painful, very tired, and my stomach is very sour, so that's helping me keep my chin up.
Thank you again! You al...

Hi LexiAnn, thanks for the note on my sig. I'll go fix it now. It was from an at-home test; FRER. I wish it was darker, but it's undeniably there. I'll re-test tomorrow (of course!) ;-)
