Re: My 4th baby girl has arrived

Your baby is so pretty, she looks like a c-sectioned baby... not one bit squishy.... Gorgeous. I wouldn't remove any pics for anyone... much less an ignorant, arrogant, bigoted, racist, hateful, idiot..... Be proud of your family and don't let anyone be oppressive to you. Whoever PM'd you obviously has issues that run deeper than your family make up.

Re: do you think homeschooling should be more regulated?

I think this is as ignorant a statement as those who say that home schoolers are all socially awkward and sit around learning Bible verses all day instead of real science. Anyway, I have a question for all the HS moms, simply because I really do not know the answer and I am curious. How does a HS kid obtain a transcript to get into a good college / university. At some point, they will have ...

Re: do you think homeschooling should be more regulated?

Smommy, I also love my children's schools and 99 percent of their teachers. Their schools are not violent, my children have not had any issues with bullying, and drugs could be anywhere, even in a person's neighborhood, they don't have to go to school to get them, in fact, I am sure you are aware as an educator, that studies show that children who are involved in after school organized activities...

Re: do you think homeschooling should be more regulated?

I dont believe I ever said that it was superior, in fact I have given positive feedback for HS in all of my posts, but you on the other hand, sound closed minded and aggressive and not only in favor of HS but clearly against traditionally school ( what your HS websites call government run schools, which sound like a fear tactic to me but that is another discussion) Where as I really don't care...

Re: do you think homeschooling should be more regulated?

There are so many opportunities in group work, recess, lunch time and classroom interaction for a student in a traditional school to have peer interaction and more importantly, build lifelong friendships. I reject the notion that traditionally schooled children "sit behind a desk" all day and work independently, void of social interaction.... That is not at all how school works. But that is ...

Re: do you think homeschooling should be more regulated?

I understand what you are saying to a point, but I disagree that children can learn all of their social skills from adults. Most studies (except for those found on homeschooling websites) show that children are best socialized when they spend time in groups of children of the same age, free from parental or adult influence... free to develop their personalities based on their independent expe...

Re: do you think homeschooling should be more regulated?

I voted that a person should have experience.... Home schooling can be a negative thing if the person doing the home schooling is not smart / intelligent themselves, or does not know how to teach. Teaching is a skill after all. Most kids are probably fine and can benefit and may even excel beyond their peers from home schooling, but regulation would help kids who have parents who are less than int...

Re: Can anyone remember....

Wow, that makes two of you now who didn't get that ugly brown line..... LUCKY! I assumed everyone got it, I guess because I had it in all four pregnancies. I know it fades over time, I just forget how long it took with my other babies. The bleeding is weird, just when I think it is gone and that I am safe to not wear a pad, it gushes again :( I'm not complaining though because other than that, I ...

Can anyone remember....

..... how long it took for you to stop bleeding after giving birth? how long it took for that brown line to go away from the center of your belly and how long it took for you to lose most or all of your baby weight??? My little guy will be 3 weeks old tomorrow and I am still bleeding, i still have a dark brown line down my belly and still have 16 pounds (out of 35 gained) to lose. My last baby bef...

He is changing so much already.... I couldn't resist posting another pic of Jackson:

Re: I had my sweet baby boy!!!

Thanks everyone. Jackson had his Bris (jewish circumcision and ceremony) yesterday and he did beautifully. it was very intimate and he was surrounded by everyone who loves him. About 70 friends and family members attended and the Mohel and Rabbi were both wonderful. Jackson literally cried for about 30 seconds, I cried a lot longer than that. I was nervous for him, but he doesn't seem to be bother...

I had my sweet baby boy!!! Updated

Jackson was born July 20 at 11:19 am. He weighed in at 7 pounds 13 ounces and is 20 inches long. I was induced.... from start to finish, the entire process only took 4 hours! I was comfortable with an epidural almost the entire time and I made it through the delivery with no episiotomy, no rips, no cuts and no stitches! It truly was the easiest labor I could have hoped for. We are home now and fee...

Re: Being induced tomorrow!!! Update

I had my baby boy!!!! I ended up getting bumped to Tuesday, so he was born on the 20th. Jackson weighed in at 7 pounds and 13 ounces and is 20 inches long. I had an amazingly easy labor and delivery. Four hours from start to finish. I was induced, had the epidural, was comfortable for most of it and had a quick vaginal birth with no cuts, no episiotomy, no stitches.... It was as easy as you could ...

Re: Braxton Hicks =S

Oh.... I feel ya. I have been contracting now for 5 1/2 weeks, almost around the clock (BH, but hard painful ones) they have gotten so close at times, like every 3 minutes, that I have been to the hospital 4 times for false labor. My cervix has not changed at all and I am exhausted from contracting all the time, my doc even put me on ambien at night, just so I can sleep through the contractions :(...

Being induced tomorrow!!! updated

So, I am on the schedule for an elective induction for tomorrow morning. The only thing that will prevent the induction would be if a bunch of other pregnant women go into labor on their own and take up all the beds at the hospital. I guess it makes sense that a medical need trumps an elective induction. But I am really hoping that, that does not happen. My doc said it can happen that I get bumped...

Re: Group B Strep

My doctor routinely checks the urine sample that you leave for GBS, that is how mine was found at 12 weeks, but he only swabs the cervix in the 36 or 37th week for GBS. Apparently, if GBS is in your urine, it has colonized pretty badly, so I have been on oral antibiotics since 12 weeks just for suppression and I will be on IV antibiotics in labor and delivery. I also have a medical history of my f...

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting to meet him right on his due date.... Can't wait to hear his story.

Re: July Births and Scheduled Appts.

Just reporting in that my doc determined that my medical issues were not as big a threat as inducing at 37 weeks would have been (in his medical opinion and the guidelines of the hospital), so I remain on my antibiotics and now have a set in stone induction date of July 19 (for certain) I will be 39 weeks and 1 day on July 19. The wait has been strenuous, especially because I have been contracting...

Re: Group Strep B anyone?

My first baby (in 1996) was born with an active group B strep infection and spent 16 days in NICU and had iv antibiotics, a spinal tap and her stomach pumped within hours of being born.... My next two pregnancies I tested negative but was treated in labor anyway with IV antibiotics. This pregnancy, which is an IVF pregnancy, I tested positive in my urine at 12 weeks and have been on suppressive th...

You need a "potty shot" at this gestation.... Did you get one of those? Good luck.

Re: 19.6 week UltraSound..Can anybody tell the gender..Please !!!!!!!!

Looks like a girl to me as well. If it helps at all, I am on my 4th pregnancy and I can honestly say that each one has had its own set of symptoms... and no 2 have been alike.... Good luck in the rest of your pregnancy... wishing you a healthy bundle of joy!!!

Re: Mom's of 3! Need advice please!

I agree with this... for me, 1-2 was the hardest adjustment.... 2 to 3 just seemed to go so much more smoothly, because I already knew how to multitask and split my attention. But I am sure that it is different for everyone. Going from 3 to 4 now does not worry me at all, except for the logistics of the sports schedules for the older ones.

Re: A Very Personal Decision~ Leftover Embryos - What do you plan on doing?

No, not at all.... they thaw them and have only hours to extract the stem cells that they need. After that the rest of the blastocyst is discarded and the inner cell mass that has been collected is no longer capable of becoming a human (see brief description below). I am also donating my baby's umbilical cord blood to stem cell research after he is born. B. How are embryonic stem cells grown i...
