Re: Baby name poll whats your opinion

I love all forms, but I will rank them in order: 1. Julie first (short and sweet and not that common anymore), 2. Juliana (suggestion), 3. Juliet, 4. Julia, 5. Julietta (that's my least favorite). ....... I like when a name ending in "a" for a girl has a non-ending "a" name as a middle, or vice versa. For example, I like Isabella Julie or Isabelle Julia, but not Isabelle Julie OR Isabella J...

Re: Don't Know That I'll Ever "Rise Above"

Carey, I don't know why life works the way it does either. It's hard, cruel and unfair MANY times. I know I've said it before, but your kids are scene stealers, they are so adorable. And especially, with the risk of naming favorites...Carter. He has a special sparkle to him, I'm telling you! (from pictures I've seen in the past in your blog). And you! You look like you have the body of a 22 yr. o...

Re: Can you tell the gender by how you carry???

Toughie...by the first pic, girl. The second seems boyish to me. Gonna guess BOY for fun. There's really no rhyme or reason. [;)]

Re: Do doctors test for Cerebral Palsy during pregnancy?

Thanks for the book suggestions, Mom2RJA! Her son's seems mild. She actually doesn't know, as he's only 3. He walks on his knees, and can stand for about 30 seconds before falling. She once told me that she always felt abnormally tired in the pregnancy with him, and was on bed rest, plus had gest. diabetes. So anyways, they didn't find anything wrong with him on the u/s, and no cord around neck or...

Re: Gender?

OP: Gut feelings are usually right...if your instinct is saying girl, that's GREAT! With my DD, I thought girl right away, and then doubted myself, and though, "I must be wrong". It was very different from my second son, where I KNEW it was a boy, but was convincing myself otherwise (denial). I've been right three for three. I think maternal instinct is usually very accurate. GL to you!

I need a kick-ass cheese dip recipe

Help! My cousin's Labor Day party's around the corner. I need something quick and easy, as I'm going alone with all three kids. This side of the family doesn't eat ANY meat, so I'm looking for something with no shredded chicken or beef in it (ya know...the really good stuff!) TIA for any ideas......... Please share. [pray]

Re: Did anyone else experience this with regards to cause of GD?

Mothers' comments can definitely affect you. My MIL has three sons, and her first grandbaby was a boy. My SIL (the first granbaby's mom) has told me stories about how my MIL was so thrilled to be surrounded by all her men, and that girls were bad news. When I found out my first was a boy, she was sooo happy; on the phone she actually said, "YES! Awesome news. Be grateful you didn't get a girl...

Re: CHANGED SOME NAMES, will you vote again? THANKS!!! :))

Alaina is my good friend's DD, and she goes by Lainey or Alaina. I like it with a y (Alayna), too. That's my vote! It's very pretty and has a great meaning (French form of Alain, ...means beautiful). Alli is not a nicname I would think would go with it; I associate Alli with Allison, or as a name by itself. We know someone who calls their Olivia "Alli" and it's a stretch to me, like Alaina....

Re: Do you ever get criticized for being a SAHM?

In my experience, people who criticize SAHMs aren't moms at all. When I was on FB, my one childless cousin remarked once how "well, at least I didn't have to punch a clock" to which I replied, "I'm always punched in!" and she proceeded to babble on about how "that's your family...it's not a job. It's your kids, etc" and trust me, it was ONE of the many reasons I deleted FB. Judgement Central....

Re: i got a letter in the mail...

Oh I think you're totally one dedicated Momma! If it weren't for my GD with my second pregnancy, I would'nt have lasted! I was terrified of resenting my baby, though. Eh, it all back fired on me. I wasn't sure if you had a preference. You having one of each and still waiting...that takes guts! [;)]

Re: moms with girls.. did you ever have a girl with no morning sickness?

I have BBG, and I didn't have morning sickness with any of them. I felt slightly naseous with all three. I never threw up.

Re: i got a letter in the mail...

RQ--is this your first surprise baby??? You seem like you want to know so bad! I wasn't sure if you had GD or something, and that's why you aren't finding out. Just curious/nosey. [;)] I think you should find out and shout it from the IG rooftops! [:)]

140 lbs...a little more left to go, and more toning to accomplish, but on my way!

My low carb weigh loss results. Before/After pics.

My goal is around the corner; I want to lose 3 more pounds. The first pic is me, on the far left, at my DD's baptism. I weighed 167 in this pic, and it was about 7 months ago. I wanted to lose the weigh, and slowly, and low carb was the way I went. I didn't do NO carbs, though. I avoided pasta, bread and sugary desserts. My main diet was veggies, lean meats, some fatty meats, and cheese. Occassion...

A first grader...as a cheerleader?!

So my SIL tells me tonight at a family b-day party that her little girl is starting up Cheerleading again. She did it last year as well. They cheer in little outfits for the t-ball players and little league football. She was complaining about the expense of it all. So I was like, "Um, why not save yourself that now and wait until she's older? Like...high school? Or even middle school." And sh...

Re: Disappointed? yes with myself!!!

I remember you! Thank you for sharing this. Your story does put things into perspective. Gender is a small role in a person's LIFE. It isn't their WHOLE life, and it can be hard to deal with GD, but having regrets over time lost is a much more difficult pill to swallow. I don't think you should be too hard on yourself. The fact is, you can't prevent ASD, and him being in his own little world...

Re: Names that go with Ava.

Ava works with Eden. I also think it gioes with Julia, Kate, Victoria, Lila or Harlow. Ava and Joel work as well. Leon is different...kind of cool though. For boys, with the name Ava, I like Hugh, Carson or Jack.

Re: NAME POLL!!! please vote!!!

I prefer Charlotte. But I'm biased, as I used to work at a Crabtree & Evelyn and that's now all I think of with that name. Sounds like you like old-fashioned names. I'm sure once you see your DD you'll just know. [:)]

Re: Big fight with a friend..Am I wrong?

What do you mean he's adamant? Screw him. People who have the nerve to tell someone no or not on a name amaze me. I mean, it's understandable, that you or he, might be possessive of it, but come on. It's natural to feel protective of a name, but he got heated wityh you? Good Lord. No one owns a name. My SIL wanted her DD to be Jenna. Loved the name! She quickly forgot about it when her neighbor n...
