UPDATE:
Well folks, it's baby boy #4 for me. I cried. A lot. But today I'm feeling better. I've chosen a name and my boys are so excited about a new brother. They have actually helped me so much! They can't stop kissing my belly and talking about "their baby". My oldest is 8, and he is one of those truly empathetic, kind souls. He sat on my lap and cried with me after we opened the envelope, ki...

...and I'm sick to my stomach. I have been on and off this forum since 2006 when I found out I was having my second boy. Now I'm on #4. This baby was our first surprise, and I can't help but feel like things have been different this time around. My boys always had heart rates in the 130s - 140s; this baby has been consistently in the 170s. I'm also measuring small, and I have always measured 2-5 w...

I'm not kidding folks. Asher Carson Curtis was born Dec. 6 at 10:23 pm after only a few hours of labor. Two minutes after the ambulance arrived, my husband delivered the head. EMTs made it just in time to catch the rest of him! He weighed 9 lbs 12 oz, with an apgar score of 10! I had no tearing and I'm feeling great. Labor was so easy I didn't think it was time to go to the hospital until I was ...

Yeah, I'm very sure about dates. I pretty much know the exact minute we conceived!!! My babies are always big, this one is likely already over 9 lbs. I was dilated to a four for 3 WEEKS before going into labor with my 2nd, so this is just how my body does things. 5 centimeters though? I thought that was "active labor!" I will try CO on Monday if membrane stripping doesn't work.

How am I dilated to a 5 without being in labor!!!! Baby's big ol' head just won't come down. Midwives won't strip my membranes until Monday, but it better work. I am so so so done. Can't sleep or eat or walk or get my shoes on. Should I try castor oil? It kinda scares the crap out of me, but I'm getting desperate.

My midwives offered to have me go in for an amnio to check for lung maturity, and then to schedule me for induction tomorrow, due to baby's size. It was soooooooo tempting, but I said no. I really want to go into labor on my own. I'm dilated to a four, but his head is only at -2 and I can't seem to get it any lower. Probably because he has a huge head. I had contractions ALL DAY yesterday, but the...

I've been having tons of BH, I guess they're doing something! I'm sure I still have a week left, but at least I know if I have to be induced it will likely be okay.

Any complications or problems with the birth or recovery? I had shoulder dystocias with my other two boys, which I think was due to malpresentation more than size. My second had a fractured clavicle because they pushed on his shoulder to "unstick" it from behind my pubic bone.
I am worried about how big this little guy could get. I want a natural birth, and would really love to avoid an induct...

I was induced without an epidural with my second, and it was pretty awful because my bladder became severely distended. I was hooked up to IV fluids, but I couldn't pee, and they didn't think to cath me. I cannot describe the pain. I think I would have been fine otherwise. He was also posterior, which made for some major back labor and a shoulder dystocia. I really do not want to repeat that expe...

I had an ultrasound yesterday, and the doctor was floored! I knew this baby was big, but WOW. My midwives are really pushing for me to get induced next week, which I 'm sad about because I wanted a natural birth. I hate pitocin. So much worse than "real" contractions. I would like to avoid an epidural because I don't like being confined to the bed, lying on my back. Anyone had an induction without...

I know it doesn't mean anything! I dropped early with my other boys, too. But at least it means the end is in sight. Anyone else dropped yet? How long after dropping do you usually go into labor? Sometimes I seriously wish I could break my own waters and just get this OVER with!!! (But I won't)

Those little bubbly movements above your pubic bone are baby's little hands and elbows! Cute, huh?

My bet is that your baby has turned posterior, with his back facing your back and his face towards your pubic bone. When babies are in that position, your belly seems "squishier" and looser because the bulk of the baby is inside your body. Can you feel his little feet and knees above your belly button? My babies are always posterior, and I have to turn them during labor. It's lots of fun. If you t...

I have consistently gained about a pound a week for months now, and had only gained 24 pounds as of my last appointment. This morning I weighed myself (and I know my scale is accurate) and I had gained 5 pounds in a week and a half!!!! WTF??!?!?!? My eating habits have not changed, and if anything, I'm eating less because my stomach is squashed. Is it just water? Did the baby gain 5 pounds? Now ...

I have had a diet coke almost everyday in my second and third trimesters. But I'm trying to switch to caffeine-free so that baby won't have caffeine withdrawals after he's born! I've always had a little caffeine with all of my pregnancies, and my babies are perfectly healthy. Don't feel guilty!

I'm 35 weeks today, and I am not happy with my care providers. I want to have this baby at home, but I do have some concerns. I have quite a few friends who have had great homebirth experiences. Mostly, I just want to be in my big, six-foot tub! Waterbirth just seems so right to me. Anyone with experiences or thoughts?

With DS #2 I was dilated to a three at 34 weeks, and then a four at 36 weeks. Walked around with him practically falling out for two more weeks when my water broke due to an amnio to check for lung maturity. With DS #1 I was dilated to a 3+ for four weeks, and went a week overdue. It sucked! I swear I was in early labor for a month. I went into the hospital three times because of strong contractio...

It's boy #3 for me! I'm starting to feel excited about this little guy. My boys are also really excited to meet their brother. I'm going to buy all new clothes for this baby. The clothes I have are a little worn out after two boys!

Warning: Cranky Pregnant Lady Needs to Vent!!!
I swear to you, I look and feel nine months pregnant already with this one. I still have 11 more weeks! I won't be able to walk or put shoes on or clip my toenails. Already I can't turn over in bed without help. I'm feeling like a huge, miserable bloated cow right now and I just want to lay on my couch and eat empty carbs all day long. My back hu...

Just found out this morning that I passed! I was at 126, which isn't super low, but the cut-off was 140, so I'm okay. Thank heavens. I had eaten a big bowl of frosted mini wheats before my appointment, too, which probably didn't help. I really thought I was going to fail, and everyone assumes that my babies are big because of diabetes, but nope! It's just genetic.

People definitely suck, but you handled the situation beautifully! Your response to her was absolutely perfect, and a great example of how to deal with a rude, presumptuous person. Every day when I feel the stabs of GD, I look at my amazing little boys and my heart just glows with the strongest love for them. They really do keep me going! Your sons are lucky to have you for a mom.

I'm almost 27 weeks and I'm measuring about 3 weeks over. I'm really freaked out about it because my first baby was 10 lbs, my second was 9 lbs (at 38 weeks) and I never measured more than 2 weeks over with either of them. I didn't have gestational diabetes with either, but I have yet to be tested with this one. I'm so afraid I have gd this time, and my diet has been CRAP!!! I crave sweets and car...
