What do you do when you feel like giving up but you can't?

Hello all!  My ds 1 has been diagnosed with ADHD and Learning Disability.  Homework is very difficult to get through.  The hard part is getting him to focus.  If I can get his brain in gear for doing the work he goes through it fairly quickly with help.  Right now he isn't recieving any help through the school system.  He is 8 years old and enrolled in a regular 1st g...

Re: Communion Dresses for DD ****GD WARNING****

girls2mama, those are absolutely stunning!  I like starlight's choices but girls2mama's suggestions are more my taste.  They are simple with just the right touch of detail!  Beatiful!  I didn't look on page 2 before I replied earlier.  Of starlight's choices I would still pick the ones I chose earlier but if she adds the new choices in the mix I would have to pick one of g...

Re: Communion Dresses for DD ****GD WARNING****

That's a tough decision!  I like E and F the best and am leaning more towards F.  I like E because of the back of it.  F looks simple and pure, IMO.  I am not too big on the mini bride look though.  I think E and F have less of that look and that's another reason I like them best.

Looking for a good ADHD/Learning disorder forum

IG is great but I would like a forum that is more concentrated in ADHD and learning disabilites particularly for that aspect of my life in addition to sharing our experiences here.  I know you are a great group of ladies and I trust a lot of your opinions and thought some of you might would be able to share the forums you visit with me.  I found a couple today and they don't seem very ac...

Re: Calling all coffee drinkers
Mine, too!  I give myself until my first cup of coffee is done, and then I make myself go do something vaguely productive.
This is me too!  I really am in good company with you all!

Calling all coffee drinkers

I haven't been drinking coffee for very long....only the past couple of weeks and about 1-2 cups every morning.  I have a few questions, lol.  What kind of coffee pot do you use?  We got a GE brand for $40.00 and it didn't work right!...Kept spilling over and only making about 2 cups at a time instead of 12.  So, I took that one back and got an $11.00 Rival brand one in hopes...

Re: Doctors checking heartbeat

With all the patients that dr.s have I don't think the dr. would remember how baby's heart sounds on every patient and that's why they should listen long enough to get the BPM and record it, even in early preg.  I know that sounds like an extreme way to think about it, lol...even though the BPM of baby might not be of importance so early in the pregnancy it will be soon and if they are not ch...

Re: Doctors checking heartbeat

I totally understand!  In that case I would for sure be finding a different dr. no matter how difficult it would be worth it!

Re: Doctors checking heartbeat

It sounds like you have an older dr. or one who has been in the business a while and he is comfortable with what he does.  He probably knows what to look for and some things that are minor can be omitted sometimes....The problem with him doing that is that there will be mamas who use him as their dr. that might not be as comfortable as he is in omitting certain things.  He should have to...

Re: I've got my appointment today...

I'm sorry your appointment today was a disappointment!  Honestly, I would try to find a different dr.  He doesn't sound like a very thorough and caring dr.  If you are not satisfied then he isn't good enough.  I know what it's like to be limited in choices but there just has to be someone better for you to see than this one!  Hugs!  I am glad to know that everything s...

Re: from autism to ADHD

We have never tried Omega 3.  That book goes into detail about traditional and non-traditional treatments so you would probably be interested in that part of the book as well.  My ds hasn't been medicated in a little over a year but I may very well decide to medicate again soon.  I am sooo undecided as to which route to go, yk?!  Either way, I am going to try to get him some be...

Re: from autism to ADHD

One more thing...I am reading a book called Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder by L. Susan Buttross, MD, FAAP and so far it seems to have a wealth of information in it concerning ADHD.  I have read a few other books about ADHD and this one I am reading now seems to be the best and it's not a very long book to read.  If you are interested it's a really good book! ...

Re: Estrogen therapy for postpartum depression...

I have never tried it and I didn't know there was such a trial going on!  I would be inclined to try it before going to anti-depressants!  I know that when I had ds2 something changed majorly in my body and I haven't been the same since then.  The thing is that when you give birth your hormones(you probably know more about this than me, lol) go crazy and sort of take a dive.  I...

Re: I bought my first baby stuff yesterday!!

Ohhhh, I seee what you mean now!  She sounds really sweet for a MIL!  Also, I know what it's like to have someone with totally different taste than you buying something for you.  The bed that you posted is the one that you are getting?  It's a nice bed.  I would like to see the one that you really wanted!

Re: I bought my first baby stuff yesterday!!

No, your morals are not off.  Considering that you and your df told her that it was too expensive then I would say for you to tell her that you will pay the difference on the one that you want.  If she still refuses then you should take the one she buys back and use the money towards the one you want.  BUT if she really is trying to do something nice and be sweet for your ...

Re: I bought my first baby stuff yesterday!!

Yayy!!  Congrats on buying some first gear!! Well, I really think it is.  BUT how much is the difference in the price of the one you want and the one she would be able to afford?  Maybe you could offer her the difference and then she would still be getting a big gift for baby and she would know that you like it.  You could go shopping with her!  Also, you could ask you...

Re: WOW...this is one big baby!

So far it looks like they are saying his size is a result of the mother being diabetic.
