No, that should not be happening. That means he is clamping down too much. His latch may look fine on the outside, but something is not right on the inside. No offense to the nurses, but hospital nurses often have very little or no training in breastfeeding. I would encourage you to seek out a lactation consultant or a La Leche League leader. LLL leaders have excellent training and they do not ch...

I was thinking of you this morning and wondering if you had any news. I had a BFN at 10 dpiui. My first VERY faint BFP was at 12 dpiui. I did not track BBT, so I have no idea about that. I'm hoping to hear good news from you in the next couple of days!

I think it's awesome that you all have this little support group going! When I was doing MS/IUI, I didn't know of anyone else doing it around the same time.My whole MS/IUI journey is here, for anyone who has not seen it:http://in-gender.com/cs/forums/p/52794/480482.aspx#480482 I agree with this, and I was really concerned about triggering too early. But if you trigger when your body is ready to ov...

I think it really has more to do with personality than gender. I have known little girls who were WAY more active, physical, and rough than my sons. When R was little, most of my friends had girls and so he played with girls a lot. Several of them were much more "high energy" than he was. He was always a kid who liked to do puzzles, read books, etc., and he would sit and play quietly even at a you...

This makes me so angry! This is exactly what I'm talking about. Moms need the right kind of help and support to be able to overcome breastfeeding difficulties. R would certainly never have nursed if I'd had an experience like yours. I am so sorry.

That looks like it could work, but I don't have any experience with it to say for sure. I would think that a breastpump might be able to do something similar.

I don't think it's that intentional. It's just that there is a huge difference between living in a culture where the belief is that "lots of women can't breastfeed" compared to living in a culture where the belief is "it is very rare to not be able to breastfeed." Those messages have a big impact on how women percieve their own ability or inability to breastfeed.About the flat nipples, I'm not su...

YES!!!I would like to see statistics on percentage of women who "can't" breastfeed in the US compared to a more breastfeeding-friendly culture like Brazil. I bet there is a huge difference.I get the point of the article, but I can also see how dwelling on "can't" vs. "won't" can be inflammatory and divisive and doesn't really solve anything. I believe that most (if not all) mothers who sadl...

I draw that line with you very firmly on the "did everything possible and still couldn't but pumped and fed the baby breastmilk anyway" side of it.I can see why this article left a bad taste in your mouth, but I don't think the article was intended to be about a situation like yours. In my opinion, the biggest issue here is with the health care providers who lead women to believe they can't breas...

I have no idea whether I did with my first birth (on a bed at a birth center). I did a little bit with my home water birth of my second child. It was just a tiny bit and my midwife just scooped it out with a strainer and it wasn't a big deal at all. I was a bit embarrassed, but nobody said anything about it. When I was getting ready for my home water birth with my third baby, I mentioned it to my ...

I answered this earlier but the computer geek babies ate it. I put one cup of boiling water and one honey chunk in a glass (Pyrex) measuring cup, let it dissolve, stir it up, let it cool a bit, and then pour it into a plastic spray bottle (I do it that way because I don't think my spray bottle could handle boiling water).I had diaper service with my first baby and I'm washing my own cloth diapers...

I am so very sorry. I cannot begin to imagine the pain you are feeling right now. This is just so unfair and so sad. There are just no adequate words, but I want you to know I am thinking about you.

I use cloth diapers and wipes. I have Bum Genius flannel wipes that I like a lot. I also have some homemade ones made of old t-shirts that work fine. I keep my wipes dry and wet them from a squirt bottle full of water with a Honey Chunk dissolved in it. I only wipe her when she has a poopy diaper. Wet ones I just change the diaper. She is 13 months old and has never had a rash.I LOVE cloth wipes. ...

I just want to thank you again for posting this. I'm racing the deadline tonight to make my 5th book. I let each of my boys make one, and I made one for A, one for my mom's birthday, and one of pictures of our dog who just passed away. I can't wait for them to arrive!

We do not vaccinate, so we don't necessarily follow the exact schedule for well baby visits, but we do use all of our visits. Our crazy insurance pays for well baby visits in full, but we have to pay sick visits completely out of pocket (up to a $4000 deductible). I have used a couple of my "well baby" visits to take her in when she isn't feeling well or when I have specific questions about her he...

Good for you! I have done that with my children, and it is very rewarding. Weaning has been very gradual and peaceful and there have been a lot of beautiful moments along the way.

I used it when I had thrush in my nipples, and it worked pretty well, but I didn't use it for my baby (he never had any sign of thrush). I hope it helps your little guy. Have you tried acidophilus at all? You can get a powdered form made for babies. You just wet your finger and stick it in the powder and then let him suck your finger. Acidophilus really helped me keep the thrush at bay.

I liked the My Brest Friend better than the Boppy. I'm short waisted, and the Boppy was too high for me. But the Boppy might be better for someone long waisted. If you liked the Boppy before, I'd say stick with it. If you want to try something else, I see a lot of these going cheap on Craigslist.

We took our boys to HRC for our MS/IUI and left them in the waiting room so my husband could come back with me. The staff said it was okay as long as they behaved. We brought Gameboys for them and they sat quietly and didn't make a sound. We got comments from the staff about how good they were. There was nobody else in the waiting room the whole time. Not ideal, but we didn't have anyone we could ...

Same here. We were going to donate the cord blood, but our midwives advised waiting to cut the cord and letting the blood go into the baby, so that's what we did.

It sounds like maybe you just have a lot of milk and she's an efficient nurser. My third baby has always nursed shorter than my other two. She's just all business, where my others liked to do more comfort sucking and were not as efficient at nursing. She's gaining well and healthy, so I really don't think you have anything to worry about. If she starts getting really gassy or having green fro...

Theoretically it could work as well as fenugreek (it has fenugreek in it), but you would probably have to drink several gallons a day to see a result. You need to take enough fenugreek to make your sweat smell like maple syrup to impact your milk supply. There just isn't enough in the tea to make a difference unless you drink insane amounts of it. I hope you can find fenugreek soon. They even have...
