Re: Back and forth about HT...advice?

After our second son I told my husband I needed to raise a daughter and wanted a third child. I contemplated MS at that time but got caught out on my dates and lo and behold I got pregnant. Enter my third son. I found out the gender and was disappointed as I thought this was it. My DH said if you want a DD I will be ok with having another baby. Again, started discussing HT. He was OK with it and, ...

Re: Finally I got a break

Well, first of all, I would NEVER, EVER, EVER tell my boys to be nice to anyone because of their gender. If they play rough whether it be to other little boys or little girls I would admonish them but that is it. I definitely understand your secret relief that your friend did not have the DG that she was predicted. Now you will have a friend who is also an all boy mom. I am an all boy mom but now ...

Re: Family Balancing
I got pregnant with my boys extremely FAST!!! but now, since we don't want to have a lot of kids we decided to do the IVF PGD. Did anyone here went through IVF PGD only for family balancing (gender selection) purposes? and who is very fertile in general?
Most are here for the exact same reasons as you. Everyone seems to be a fertile myrtle and that is one of h...

Re: Big decision to make, please help

mini ivf is just not worth it given the amount of loss from doing IVF / PGD. If you only had 2-3 embies to work with you would almost certainly be facing a no transfer situation. it is a lot of emotional trauma and financial outlay to go that route in my opinion. I donated my left over embryos to science and I am more than good with that. To go this route you need to weigh how much you want your ...

Re: PGD, can you bring sperm sample or...

Not sure about GIVF but we cycled locally and my husband did his job at home and then he took it there. I believe that the male has to bring his own sample in. I think you need to be within a certain timeframe driving to deliver the sample - can't recall but we live 15 minutes away and they were fine with that so perhaps it needs to be in their hands 1 hour after the sample is produced.

Re: If I do MS with IVF..are there good chances for a FET if a second time is necessary?

Well, depending on your age, response to the meds and how the embryos do and (if you stay in the states MS is not an option unless already enrolled) you will lose some normals to the opposite gender it is not a sure thing that you will have anything to go to freeze, especially if you want to implant 2. However if you do, then yes it is easier and cheaper and has good success for FETs these days. G...

Re: Did you get an Amnio/CVS with normal GSN transfer?

They did not share grades with me. Said that two looked good, one (HB) the best. He thought I had an excellent chance of becoming pg with one and probably a 40-50% chance of twins, almost no chance of triplets unless one split. Thank you for your congrats, we are blessed and very happy.
Vent/help, please!!  ok, DH has 3 boys and we have one together totaling 4 boys.  I am preggo with baby 2  (which posted u/s on gender predict and they're pretty much saying boy....again.... ultrasound not for another 3 weeks or so...losing all hope day by day that this is boy #5. So, already bummed about that...Here's what is irking the crap out ...

Re: This is a new thought but if you got your DG are they still your DG

Well for me it has just made me feel complete and blessed that I have now the priviledge of raising both genders. I love my boys to their core and love their boyness but I am excited to see how my DD is at the same ages. So for me DD was never a prefered gender it was just a missing one in my family! I never had gender disappointment merely gender desire which could explain the different answers y...

Re: Is anyone out there with 100 % success in gender selection through IVF-PGD....................???

GIVF are close to you in Fairfax I believe. Popular but I am sure others will chime in with other local possibilities

RFC or HRC on west coast seem popular

Re: Did you get an Amnio/CVS with normal GSN transfer?

I transferred 3, although 1 of them was "never going to make a baby" according to my RE and that they were all surprised that she was normal as metabollically speaking she did not look great. I decided since it was not going to make a freeze / thaw cycle that I should just transfer it. I made the decision there and then at the transfer at the last minute. I was by myself. My DH face was a pict...

Re: Did you get an Amnio/CVS with normal GSN transfer?

I had a normal GSN female and decided that due to my age and the fact I had previously done amnios, again age related, that I would skip the risk assessment testing and just get the definitive from an amnio. Everything came back normal - as I would have expected. I am 42 so again, I felt the need to double / triple check the gsn results. if I were younger, perhaps I would not have felt as compelle...
Our5sons- I know I would have a 5th boy too if we don't look into HT! Something about the chemistry of a couple! I never got a chance to "sway" with this one. I would start by reading the sticky on this page of "Where is PGD available for family balancing?" started by Dr Potter. I think you may find what you are looking for as a starting point for your research

Re: do both partners need to travel the same amout of days for MICROSORT

I would imagine that depending on when the clinic wants you there, theoretically your husband only needs to be there on the day off to provide his sample. It needs to be a fresh sample for MS really (they can do with frozen but results are not as good as with the fresh). IUI has pretty low success rates and MS IUI even lower so I would be prefer to do it a number of times for it to be successful. ...

Re: Need advice from moms of 4 same gender

Are you me? I could have written all of this 18 months ago. I was 40 when our 4th son was born. I thought 4 was it. I wanted a daughter to complete our family. I decided to go the GS route. It took 4 cycles but perseverance paid off in my case (you can read my surveys on this site for each cycle) and we now have our DD. 5 kids is a lot. We are fortunate to have help but it is still a lot. I would ...

Re: hi ladies....

I am sorry you are having a hard time. The unknown is the killer. Not knowing if there will be a success or not. I would definitely look at what the package price for 2 cycles is compared to a single cycle. Just taking some of the pressure off may help. I had 4 cycles and had a transfer each time. I ended up over all cycles with 11 embryos deemed as normal (first cycle there were 6 but I only did ...

Re: # and gender of your embies

Good mix. You can see my results in the surveys for all 4 cycles. I believe it was pretty much 50-50 for me after all cycles with a slight bias towards the gender I did NOT have! (5 boys vs 6 girls) GL!
