Re: updates plz?!

We've had a rough two weeks.  Danica develped pretty severe jaundice.  She got up to 17.6 (20 they were worry about brain damage).  She was on the bili-blanket for a week here at home and I had to take her to the clinic (1 hour round trip) every day for labs to make sure it was going down.  About a week into that she started vomiting almost every other time she ate.  She h...

Danica Louise has arrived!

Danica Louise Page was born at 1am this morning 2.11.10 7lbs, 11.7oz and 19 inches long. She is an angel. She has barely cried since being born and is just very content. She sleeps well ...I had to wake her during the night to eat. My bp has been really high for the last week or so...even made a trip to L&D on Sunday night only to be sent home when it went down for an hour or so but by Tuesday...

Re: February mamas - how are we doing?

2cm ... 50% effaced ....baby is -2 station...and measuring big....hoping that means I will have another 38 weeker (both boys were).  Suffering majorly with a case of pubis symphisis dysfunction.  I feel like my legs are bigging ripped from my body...or I'm being split in two with a dull hatchet...walking, rolling over in bed, putting pants on, etc is excruciating...I'm waaaay done being ...

Re: do you tend to lose weight when breast feeding?

With DS1 I only gained 26lbs...I nursed for 4 months and lost all the weight plus 13lbs in that time.  With Ds2 I gained 42lbs and I lost very quickly for about 2-3 months post partum and then stalled out about 10-15 pounds from my prepregnancy weight...that did not come off until after he weaned at 16 1/2 months even when I tried to lose...my body held onto it...I did not go below my pr...

Re: decreasing number of feeds

If you're not trying to wean her than I'd just continue on as you are...sounds about like what my son did...he weaned at about 16 months..with a little encouragement from me...he was down to just a couple nursings a day at that point though..usually just nap time and bedtime...and if he woke during the night.

I don't really know what it's supposed to feel like?
Some women feel a tingling or almost burning sensation when their milk lets down. It makes it easy to tell when it is happening. But some women do not feel this at all, so don't worry if you don't. I never felt it with my boys at all. Re: Feelings of anxiety before letdown happens....

Though I've never experienced it myself there is acutally a "term" for it...its called dysphoric milk ejection reflex.  Here is a website about it ..hope you can get some info from it.  www.d-mer.org

Re: Going to see a general surgeon tomorrow...

Ugh!  Girls that was thee worst procedure ever!  I just had to lay on my side on this flat table (like a physical therapist table)..they didn't even give me a pillow for under my belly. The nurse came in saying how bad she felt for the dr cause she had been on call for the last 2-3 days and was soo tired.  They spayed this liquid nitrogenish spray on my tailbone area and they didn't...

Re: Going to see a general surgeon tomorrow...

No I guess they just use local and give me pain pills for when it wears off....usually people lay face down on the table though...guess I'll be bent over a table or chair...I don't know how they'll do it as big as I am there is no way I can lay on my belly.  So embarassing!

Going to see a general surgeon tomorrow...updated in reply

Apparently the intense pain I've been feeling in my tailbone area is not from the baby...I have a cyst and have to have it lanced, drained, and packed with gauze tomorrow...should be fun, right?  Ugh! Why me?...Went to my family dr today to have it looked at but she wouldn't do it in office because I've had the pain (and probably the cyst) for a few weeks so she's worried its now tunneled and...

Re: why is he is doing this?

My son did this and I figured out it was because I had an over active let down...I was drowning him when I would let down and it caused him to spit up/gag ect and he'd pull off without unlatching.  I had to pump a little at first to get past the initial let down and then he was better...eventually it corrected itself or he just got big enough that he could keep up better...don't know if thats...

Re: In a lot of pain from biting

Get some lanolin and apply it regularly..it really helps speed the healing in my opinion...they also have gel nursing pads you can put in the fridge that might help too.  As far as stopping the biting goes...a baby cant bite with a proper latch...she'd bite her tongue.  That being said if you watch her while she's nursing you should be able to see when she's done/bored/playing as the she...

Re: infant chinese prefolds - where do I get them?

You can get seconds for $11 a dozen + shipping at Little-Lions.com...I'm ordering some prefolds and flats from there in the next couple days.

Re: Favorite bottles for a full time BF baby?

My oldest I used the bent shape Playtex Vent Air bottles...( I think they are pretty worthless for reducing gas like they claim though) but I had to use those orthodontic shaped nipples...like a pacifier..NUK makes them and I only ever found them at Target.  Sawyer took the playtex drop ins bottles but it had to be a latex (brown) nipple..not the silicone....I think the latex was softer maybe...

Re: Getting comfy when feeding...
I had terrible neck and shoulder pain when my boys were little, and I think a lot of it was caused by being sort of hunched over while nursing them, combined with carrying them around all the time.
I figured out I was hunching myself over and pulling my breast to baby instead of bringing baby to me...also I think it has to do with having to support a newborn so ...

Re: Favorite bottles for a full time BF baby?

I'm sorry I didn't mean to imply you shouldn't get any bottles...I'm was just saying in general don't get a bunch of one kind...you'll be kicking yourself just the same if you have to listen to a screaming, irrate baby while trying to deal with your gallbladder pain (and feeling guilty, btdt)...I did this with DS1..not knowing/realizing that he might be picky...which he was so then I was out a bun...

Re: about when is the adverage for cycle to return?

I breastfed DS2 for 16 months and didn't get my cycle back til 2 months after that...he started eating solids at 6 months old and I was giving him other fluids like sippy cups with juice or cow's milk at around 11 months he was only nursing 2-4 times a day at the end and it still didn't return until after he was completely weaned.

Re: Favorite bottles for a full time BF baby?

I absolutely would not recommend investing in a bunch of one kind of bottle/nipple.  Both my boys were very particular about the type of nipple.  DS1 would not use any nipple but an orthodontic shaped one (made by Nuk found at target)...they look similar to an orthodontic shaped pacifier.  DS2 absolutely refused any bottle until he was close to 9 months old...he would just assume sc...

Re: Colostrum in 22nd week ?Can it be a sign that I am going to have another preemie ?

I've had colostrum since 20 weeks with both DS and 16 weeks with this one...all have been term..I'm at 32 weeks with this one.  Don't think it has anything to do with anything...except maybe you'll have plenty of milk [:-)]

Re: Should I prepare for the worse?

I had this exact same problem.  I had my gallbladder removed the week after we figured out what it was..I just had to push through the pain...I was a single mom so I didn't have any other options.  I didn't have someone else to feed DS and I certainly didn't find it easier to get up and make a bottle in that pain..nursing was easier. Drinking water is supposed to help.  Gallst...

It never fails...whether the diaper is new or new to you it always gets pooped in the first time you put it on.
