Re: Need opinions quick! Another H1N1 vaccine question....
I read on a medical site somewhere (wish I remembered where - that would be helpful, huh?) that if you have had confirmed H1N1, you are immune to it and should not be in danger of getting it again.  I wish I could find that again...although I'm sure all over the web there are conflicting ideas about this.  Sorry, I guess this post has helped at all. Personally, i...

Re: Need opinions quick! Another H1N1 vaccine question....
How sure are your Dr's that you already had H1N1? As far as I know, they are no longer sending off cultures unless you're hospitalized. For everyone else, it's just the Influenza A swab and if it's positive, they are *assuming* you have H1N1 as it's the most prevalent strain of Inf. A. Here's the thing though - it's still not the *only* strain of Inf. A and the swab ca...

Re: Need opinions quick! Another H1N1 vaccine question....

Yeah, it makes no sense to me.  I personally think they are just telling people to get it to CYA...but really there is no need.  I still want someone to explain the logic in this.  Isn't the vaccine just a dead virus...the same strain as the swine flu?  Well, if you had swine flu, you should have had the LIVE virus which I would think is more potent?  My doctors say you do...

Need opinions quick! Another H1N1 vaccine question....

All my kids had swine flu.  Our doctors office says they are still recommending that we all get the shot even though we had it.  My mom gut says this is stupid.  Can someone please explain the logic in this?  I am really trying hard here, but I would think the kids had natural immunity.  Isn't that what the vaccine is all about?  We have appt's on Saturday afternoon s...

I need some good eggless/ nutless holiday recipes!

I just don't understand how these days you can't find a decent recipe without these ingredients??? [:^)][8o|]  I mean am I the only mom with food allergies in her house?  I am looking for a great sugar cookie recipe without egg.  I have tried a bunch off the internet and they stink! [yuck]  I want first hand experiences here.  If you use a sugar cookies recipe without eg...

Re: My baby is on a ventilator because of H1N1

I'm so sorry this is happening.  We just recently had H1N1 in the house and it is nasty!  I am still worried for the kids.  I was on the fence about vaccination too but I would totally get the shot now after seeing what it can do.  Lots of prayers for your son!

Re: Can you catch H1N1 again?

I have to admit that the stomach virus is worse in my house than any other virus that we have had.  I hate that one.  It's brutal and attacks my dh so bad he has had to get on IV fluids!  The H1N1 was pretty brutal in this house too...but it was so much better after 2 days.  That stomach bug tends to linger in my house.  Must like us...LOL!

Re: H1N1 and new babies

Yes, I was.  Now there have been times I couldn't pump and I just fed him.  The CDC says it's fine to bfeed on tamiflu so I am not being as strict as I originally was when I started taking it.  I'm almost done.  I have 1 more day....THANK GOD!

Re: Silly, but....what age is the most fun to dress?

I think it will be fun as long as they don't get too vocal about it.  Right now I can dress all 3 boys alike without any lip.  I know a lot of 7 year olds who are very vocal about what they wear and tell their moms no to the dressing alike thing.  My boys are really good about it and actually like it.  So it is fun for me still.  My boys are 7, 5 and 8 months..... Re: dressing age....

I like dressing dd much more now then when she was younger.  She used to scream bloody murder if I came near her with a dress.  She's almost 3 and loves to go in her room and try on a bunch of dresses.  I was hoping she would grow out of the fear of dresses thing.  Thank goodness.  It was draining.  I think it will remain fun as long as dd doesn't get too vocal about ...

Re: H1N1 and new babies

My whole house just had it.  My 8 month old had a fever for the first 2 days.  It was pretty high.  I just alternated motrin and tylenol.  I know you can't use motrin with a new baby like yours but you can use tylenol.  We put him in the tub a lot until the fever broke and put a cold washcloth on his head a lot.  He had a runny nose and cough for about 3 days.  I...

Re: just thought id mention a great way to lose weight

I thought it was a good discussion too but I guess it's rubbing people the wrong way.  So I will drop the issue. BREASTFEEDING ROCKS! [:P]

Re: just thought id mention a great way to lose weight
Ahhh this is what I have been waiting to hear.  So going back to the original post topic this basically tells me that not everyone can lose weight while breastfeeding.  The reason being is you may not have any milk to breastfeed with if you want to run the risk of trying lose weight while breastfeeding!  In order to breastfeed some people have to maintain ...

Re: Can you catch H1N1 again?
No.  This is the reason the older population is NOT getting H1N1--because it hit in the 70s (I think it was the 70s, could be off on the dates though) and they got it then and have immunities to it.
It was 1976.  The year I was born.  In my baby book my mom wrote "swine flu shots" in the "what's happening in the world" section...LOL  I have to have...

Re: just thought id mention a great way to lose weight

Agreed. Agreed. I didn't say that.  I was just giving my thoughts on the topic.  I have seen it work for people.  My bff loses just fine after having a baby.  I'm jealous!  It just sucks that there is so much literature still out there pumping up the benefits of breastfeeding by promising moms it's gonna make you thinner.  You know women are syked about that!  ...

Re: Can you catch H1N1 again?
I was the only one actually tested.  The dr. said he's sure thats what the kids had too.  He said you can get it again but the chances of that happening is highly unlikely.  Like 1 in a million. Re: My 2 cents on H1N1 from a non-vaccinator

I am pro vaccination who had questions about this shot...LOL...go figure.  I would have gotten it if we all didn't come down with swine flu.  I still don't know if I should still get the vaccination or not?  Dh and I didn't get it all that bad.

Re: Can you catch H1N1 again?

DD was tested Tues night and it was positive for influenza A which is considered swine flu now.  Wed night the two older boys got it, then the baby then dh and myself.  We assume it's the same bug going around.  Only dd was tested though....but we all got on tamiflu for it.
