Stupid link to stupid celeb news on stupid AOL

So I always have to read celeb stuff, right?  Well, maybe not all of it, but I saw a dumb link on AOL about Valerie Bertinelli feeling rejected by her son Wolfgang, and since my DS2's name is Wolfgang I always feel compelled to read stuff about her when she mentions her son because it's neat to see my DS2's name in print in English referring to an actual person (not too many Americans named W...

Re: Boy Discrimination-- For those with all boys
I have noticed that many (but not all) of the moms with "Extreme Boy GD" often times have sons on the ADD/ADHD/Autism spectrum.  I can't help but think that there is a correlation.  Motherhood is hard enough, but parenting a child with special needs must be an incredibly difficult task.  I have such respect and adimiration for these women, so if I see on...

Re: Went shopping with my neice and I think I crushed her future dreams.

PS Melpomene - Sorry for hijacking your thread!  I'm a law school dropout with mushy mommy brain, and sometimes that dormant reasoning/logic part of my brain can't resist the chance for some exercise! FWIW I think your niece (neice? how is that spelled? both look right [*-)]) probably wasn't crushed by what you said.  She was probably just like "oooookay Aunt (whatever your re...

Re: Went shopping with my neice and I think I crushed her future dreams.
I think you are missing the point here. I am not arguing in favour of abortion. In fact I am arguing against it. I do not disagree with any of what you have said...but the  arguments you have raised against gender abortion could also be used against ANY abortion done for ANY reason, not just gender abortion...that was my point. Abortion is either right or it...

Re: Went shopping with my neice and I think I crushed her future dreams.
The only point I was making in my previous musings was that a gender abortion is really no more open for condemnation than any other abortion. For whatever reason, the parent/s does/do not want the child, and the poor child, if born, would suffer the brunt of the parent/s' selfishness one way or the other, which is likely to scar the child for life... Re: GIVF Bad Experience

GIVF is more unwilling to work with individual needs for timing and drugs.  Sometimes their cautious conservativeness can be a good thing, but I think they were way too rigid with the protocol.  I understand that it's an FDA trial, but maybe they'd have higher success rates if they paid more attention to peoples' unique needs and body chemistry.  In my experience, some of the nurses...

Re: Does In-Gender ever make your GD worse?

Oh, also, back to the main point, you know what I think my main reason is for coming here so often?  I think on some level, I feel like being on this website is kind of like actively doing something towards achieving my goal of having a DD.  Like, if I'm on here reading about it, it's more real, more tangible then if I'm just going over the details of my ttc plans in my head.  Of co...

I get a little upset when people say boy clothes are ugly.  I don't know where they're shopping but I see cute boy clothes all the time.
I know, right??  I mean, have these people ever been to OshKosh?  Where the boys clothes are cuter than the girls clothes by a mile!  You h...

? if you got pg on your first attempt . . .

If you were swaying for a girl and got pg on your very first attempt, did you have a girl or a boy?  It seems to me like girl swayers who get pg on the first try are more likely to have opposites.  What do you think?

Re: That's too bad.

What a craphead, I hope she choked on her coffee. Hey, look, my Eli and your Elijah have the same birthday!  I bet yours is a real sweetheart.  I remember my Eli at your little guy's age.  He was such a precious, cute, sweet little guy, always getting compliments.  It breaks my heart to think your little guy isn't getting the same treatment just because he's got two older brot...

Re: Does In-Gender ever make your GD worse?
There are certain posters who consistently post things that rub me the wrong way.
[Y] This is starting to be the predominant feeling I have when I log on, besides overwhelming feelings of despair when confronted with all the reasons I'm probably never going to have a DD.  Over the years, I-G has been a comfort and a place to go ...

Charlize, like Charlize Theron! You could probably stretch it to include Carl- names, like Carla or Carlotta.

Re: Popdaddy's Story

Forgive me if I'm being presumptuous, but I believe I understand your motivation for wanting a DS, as I think it is similar to my motivation for wanting a DD.  IRL I feel like I'm a different species than 99.9% of women.  It's not that I'm a tomboy or mannish or anything like that, but I just can't relate to any women, and the few girlfriends I've had over the years I've always had to fo...

Re: Poll: If you got your Desired Gender please vote

I was actually noticing the other day that most women on here DON'T get DG for #4, it seems like either #3 or #5.  But maybe I'm just reading different posts than you are! I think maybe it seems like #4 is the magic number because it's your family makeup and you notice it more, but maybe also because probably the majority of women IRL these days don't care that much about the gender of their...

Re: Yepa?

Love the meaning, not the name (and I like the unusual ones).  Makes me think of Speedy Gonzales - Yeepa yeepa yeeeeeepa!  I mean it's not awful, just not that great.  What about the name Winter, or Wynter if you want to get wild (wyld)?  I remember really wanting a wintery name for DS2.  That's part of why I went with Wolfgang, it's got a winterish sound, especially Wolfi...

Re: "Failed" sway babies... (not about GD)....

Oh one other difference is that DS1 was developmentally delayed, especially with speech, but DS2 is actually pretty developmentally advanced.  Again, I think that doesn't really have anything to do with the swaying.  Probably more birth order and a more enriched environment!

Re: "Failed" sway babies... (not about GD)....

Nope, DS2 looks almost exactly like DS1.  Same coloring, same nose, same face shape, exact same hair.  Only major difference is DS1 was a fat baby (as were DH and I) and DS2 was skinny, but he had some weird milk sensitivity issues (maybe from all the dairy I bombarded myself with while ttc? [;)]) while BFing and I couldn't eat dairy or a bunch of other things until I weaned him or his p...

Re: swine flu in the third trimester - you CAN survive.

Oh my gosh, Kristin, I can't believe what I just read!  You sound so practical about it, but you must have been so scared!!!  So glad you're feeling better, though.  Jeez, just goes to show you never know what people are doing when they're away from I-G.  Is the baby back to moving around as much as he should be?  On the plus side, at least you no longer have to worry ab...

Re: Is it stupid to sway because of impatience?

You've been so outspoken against swaying that I think you'd really beat yourself up if you did that and ended up with boy #4.  I thought I remember you saying you swayed for all your boys.  Is there some different method you're going to be trying if you sway for #4?  I don't know about you, but I always keep in mind the old saying "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing ...

Re: Do your kids' names "fit" your style?..

I have very specific, strange taste in names.  With DS1 Eli I was thinking wily old inventor dude scowling in a black and white photo.  Now the name is getting so popular I almost wish I'd gone with something else.  DS2's name is Wolfgang, nn Wolfie, which much more reflects my style.  My main naming rules for boys are it's gotta be very masculine, it can't be made up, and it c...

If you had a successful O+12

If you had a successful O+12, how many hours after you got the +OPK did you BD?  Only want to hear from people who got pg and had a girl from doing O+12 timing only, without c/o or BD thru O.

Re: The "oops" baby poll

I had an oops which was in Shettles girl territory (3 day c/o) on a new moon and it was a boy.  I think for most people oops babies are girls.  It's probably going to be biased on this site because most of us are boy moms who may be more prone to have boys even under girlish conditions.  Then again, I can think of many, many women on this very site who had two or more boys and con...
