temp of incubator

Hi ladies,
I was wondering how far either way the temperature can fluctuate in the incubator?
Thank you.

Not much. 100* will kill them, so no higher than 99.9. You're not suppose to go lower than 99.0. Obviously, a small window. I know that there are some who have a wider range in temp & their sperm do just fine...but I've been able to keep mine living IN the incubator for a couple days.

I agree with PurpleDream, I think that the temps that are over 99.9 are the worse as they will kill the sperm. The lower temps will not have as bad of an affect just the SU or MSU will not be as succesful.

What I did is just check on it all the time to make sure temp is ok! It's not like they all die right away but they slowly start dying at the wrong temp and if the temp stay to low or to high they all will die shortly.

Thank you all for your replies. The novital incubator i have bought says it maintains a temp of 37.5* or 100f. Thats too high isnt it? I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to make it a little lower than that? I thought this was the one thing I had sorted!
Thank you again.x

Check the manual maybe you can adjust it, if not you may just have to keep turning it off to maintain the heat. That is what we do, when the temp goes above 99.5 or so we turn it off (rather than opening it as the temp will fluctuate too much) and it pretty much will stay between 98.7 and 99.5

HI !
Do you guys rely on the little thermometer that came with the yellow incubator in the supply list? I feel like it is a bit hard to read---thinking about getting a different one? Also, do you heat your EW to 98.7?
Thanks!

Hi all just wondering why it needs to be kept at 99 degrees, when sperm whilst in the body are naturally at between 95 to 97 degrees??
