Hi ribbonsandglitter, we are considering PGD/IVF at Thai Superior ART in 2010?? depending on the review of the ban here in Aus at the end of this year. We dont live in Sydney but we are about 4-5hrs north and inland. When do you think youll go if you go ahead?

Hi Piggytails, we would like to go some stage early 2010.  My husband and I are sceptical about the whole thing though, and wonder if it will work out.  I noticed you conceived by IVF with your boys, how was it?  I have been fortunate enough to fall pregnant very easily with our boys and wonder if I will have any success with the IVF?  I wish so badly that they would overturn the ban here in  Australia, it should be available to people who have a genuine cause.  Write back Ribbons and glitter x

Ribbonsandglitter - My IVF our 2 boys was a rollercoaster ride but it worked out well in the end. Once you get used to it all,its quite an adventure, especially knowing whats going on each part of the way, and things like being able to see your little embryo on a screen before its transferred to your womb - so cool. Would you take your children or go by yourself and hubby comes over just for his bit?

I stumbled across this site yesterday while googling gender selction in Thailand ... I hope you dont mind if I join your chats? I live in Sydney and have a 3.5 yo son and am due with my 2nd son early Jan 2010 - I desperately want a little girl. I will be 37 in Jan so know I cant waste time - I am planning to try PGD late 2010 so am keen to find out as much as I can and hear about others' experiences.

Hi girls,

I am doing Gender Selection through Superior ART in Bangkok and am seeing Dr Viwat. We head off for Bangkok on Tuesday night and have done half our cycle here in Australia (we are on the Sunshine Coast).

When I was starting all the research in to Gender Selection, I firstly chose Bangkok because it was the closest to Australia. Then I contaced a few clinics over there and found Superior ART to be the most professional. Their website was clear, consise, and didnt have that 'dodgy' feel about it. I guess what made me even more comfortable with Superior ART was their relationship with Sydney IVF.

When I was talking to a few other clinics in Thailand, they basically said that I needed to go and see my GP here and arrange all the medication myself. They also said that I may have a few problems finding a doctor to help me as gender selection was somewhat frowned upon in Australia. I asked if they could recommend me anyone in Australia who would help me out (we were willing to fly anywhere) and their response was no.

So then we decided 100% on Superior ART from then on. They said I would start my cycle here and would then fly down to Sydney IVF and have an appointment there with one of the nurses who would educate me on the whole process and give me prescriptions for my meds and refferals for my blood tests and scans. Seemed ALOT easier and alot less stressful....and im happy to say, they have been wonderful.

We have found Dr Viwat to be excellent also. He responds quickly to emails, answers everything thoroughly and seems treat every client like they really matter!. We are really looking forward to meeting him in person next week. If you want to see him you can go to the Superior ART website and go to newsroom and click on the movie link to watch the tour on superior ART. '

If you want any help at all, im happy to answer any questions at all!. I had heaps of help when I was starting out and it makes life so much easier.

Good luck to everyone wanting their special bubs!

Hi Wantingmyprincess,

Thanks for your reply - you must be very excited - best of luck! Happy Smile

Do you mind if I ask who you are seeing at Sydney IVF? Do you need to see a Dr or can the nurse you mentioned manage/organise everything for you ie tests, meds etc?  I dont know anything about the IVF process so I'm not really sure where to start - should I contact Sup ART first or SIVF?

I am still pregnant with my second son (due Jan) so should really be focused on him, but I have read a few blogs advising to start the process early as it can take months - so I thought I should start gathering info now in preparation for a trip to Sup ART late next year.

Hi Susan,

To be honest, I only started enquiring this time last month!! haha.  I just told them that I wanted to start this asap and they basically said I could start whenever I wanted too. It didnt take much at all.

I saw a nurse at Sydney IVF. They have two nurses who are specifically used for patients going to Superior ART and they send information back and forth from the doctors over there. Superior ART will organise all of that for you though.

Best of luck with the birth of your little man. I have 3 little boys and really want my baby girl as my last spoilt little princess. Although, I keep dreaming that ill have twins!!.

That is good to know ... thanks for the advice!

This site is a life saver -  I have felt so alone not knowing where to go for information and who I can talk to. GS isnt something I feel I can talk to anyone about as all my friends have daughters so dont understand how I feel!

Thanks again ... I'll have my fingers crossed for you over the next few weeks ... Pray

Hi DesperatelySeekingSusan

I was in your shoes earlier this year when i found out i was having my 7th son. I to wanted to get the ball rolling as soon as I could. I contacted Superiour Art and SIVF.

My son was born in July and SIVF said to get the ball rolling at the end of this year just incase i have to wait for a Dr.

Superiour Art said the earliest i could start was 2 to 3 cycles after i finish breatfeeding. My local Dr (who is very supportive) gave me all the work up forms needed to get started.

Good luck it isn't to far to Janurary. It must be baby month I know at least 10 people in my town due in jan/feb.
