Hi all,

Hope you are all as well as can be expected!! Counting the days now til my section on 14th May!! Bub is still managing to shift herself right round, not sure how! She was transverse for ages, then I managed to get her to shift head down, which was MUCH more comfortable for both of us. Yesterday she managed to move to transverse again, so I was crippled by kicks in the cervix all day and could hardly breathe! Now she is back to head down...how do I get her to stay that way?? She is one active baby!! I am 37 weeks.

Are you sure it's kicks in the cervix and not her hands? My son is head down and definatley can't get out of that postion..but sometimes I feel these awful punches in the cervix that almost cripple me. He some how gets his hands doen there..it is very possible even at this point( 2 of my kids were born with a hand first).

Yes, mine is still shifting too!  After being transverse for the whole pregnancy I managed to get her head down but she has now shifted back again to transverse!  I think my Doctor was a little surprised that she is still moving around so much at this stage.  Trying to get her back to head down again, and yep those hands in the cervix (which I had with my twins too) is the weirdest thing, but she has been doing it for the last few months so I am starting to get used to it!

My C-section is booked for 11th May although I don't think I will make it that long as I am having contractions every couple of nights and braxton hicks almost continuously.

Good luck with getting yours to turn!

Hi Country Belle,

I was just curious...why are you having a c-section?  I wonder because I need to decide if I should schedule one or try to deliver vaginally.  I really want to deliver vaginally but I had a previous C-section with my son since his head was sideways and not face down.  I'm hoping this baby will cooperate and come out o.k.   I know some people prefer c-section since it's predicatble and you know there won't be any complications..  What is your reason?

Hi Sher,

I have been scheduled for a c-section because my previous 2 births ended up being emergency sections, and the docs said the scar would be weak and I would risk rupturing during labour, putting both mine and baby's lives at risk. However, I have heard of a number of people having vaginal births after one or two sections, so it is definitely possible. If I had argued for it, they would have let me labour under close monitoring, but that would mean lying on my back the whole time, which is not the best position for anyone in labour. Also, I feel a section is safest for me and baby as my younger son had a heart defect and there is a slight possibility this baby might have some difficulties, although everything has been fine so far. I think I am far too well informed about what can go wrong during labour, but c-sections are no walk in the park either! If I had just had one previous section with no complications with baby, I would definitely be going for a natural birth. It's got to be worth a try, and if you're in hospital anyway they'll be able to act quickly if things aren't going to plan.

Hope everything goes well for you no matter what you decide!
