3D/4D...who's getting one and when?

The place I went to my private gender scan said 26-28 weeks is best.  And I get 10% off since I have been there before.  I really want to get one but am on the fence if it's worth the $175.  We just built a house so my husband is a little iffy about me spending money on the scan.  He's in a good mood today though and wants to get one...we'll see if he changes his mind.

I want one so bad but i don't think my office does them and since its in germany im not sure of the prices. and my insurance covers everything pretty much except those.

My husband just called and told me to make an appointment since it's likely our last baby (his only) and something we will have forever.

Insurance doesn't cover them here in the states either (unless the Dr has one in his office which is rare).  So we have to go to private ultrasound places.  Google 3d ultrasound in your area and see if anything comes up?

I'm having one next tuesday at 28 weeks. I was told that is the optimum time by the U/S place.

We had a peek at 17 weeks but he looked kinda alien and scary, it was clearly too early.

I'm thinking of getting one done as this is my last baby, and I'm dying to have a peek at what she looks like! It's $175.00 for a private one here too. I had my 20 week scan, but that was only in 2D. I'm trying to figure out how to convince my DH the money is worth it! My two boys don't really look alike, so I'm interested in where she will fit in. I'm so impatient!! Hugs, Allison 

I wish we could get one, esp. since the u/s tech TOLD me it was a boy but never printed me any gender shots.... but we are unable to afford one right now..they are quite expensive in this area.

We were dead set on getting a 3D/4D scan done. We ended up going with the ULTIMATE PACKAGE which costs $235.00 but includes two visits and all the extra's. We had our first one done at 16 weeks to try and get the gender determination, but the baby was uncooperative so they tldl us to come back again 2 weeks later and they would do another one for free. It was the best experience ever! We got great pictures, found out we are having a girl, and are very please with the results! It is pricey, but well worth it I think. We have our final 3D scan scheduled at 30 weeks (when the baby is nice and plump so we can see her features really well).

 Downside:

Talk to your doctor first! I switched doc's mid pregnancy and had my first appointment with them 2 weeks ago. The doctor said, "We use a 3D ultrasound machine at our facility." I was like, "NO WAY! Are you serious? I just paid $200.00 to have that done!"

So....bad news is if I would have found my doctor sooner I would not have had ot pay for the 3D images...but oh well right?

Also...doctors really frown upon those U/S places because they are not really doctor's that run those places, only certified ultrasound technicians. Nothing wrong with that, just be prepared to get a lecture from your doctor on the accuracy of the 3D scan performed. My doc said I would probably find out a different gender than what the U/S place saw...but I think the docs are just haters. :)

We had one done at 16 weeks as well (3D/4D with gender determination).  :)  They told me best time to come back is 26-28 weeks when baby was still small enough to see easily but a little chubby :)  I have another one scheduled for 27 1/2 weeks.  So excited! 

BTW I didn't tell my Dr at my 20 week scan that I had one and I already knew what I was having because of that very reason.  I didn't want them to tell me boy just to spite me.  lol

I had a private gender U/S done while on vacation in the US, but never mentioned it to the tech at my 20 week anatomy scan. I was paranoid!

ROFL I had one done @ 16wks too and never admitted it to my doctor or my sonagrapher at 19wks either!!  I was still too terrified that it was going to be wrong even tho the sonographer was 100% confident it was a girl.

 I'm having a full one done in 2wks @ 28wks its going to cost $195 Aus dollars and imo they are so well worth it.  I still need some more convincing that this is a girl.

 I was advised that the best time to get it is dependant on the size of mum, the smaller you are the earlier ie around 28wks and if you're bigger to have it around 32wks.

 I cant wait!!!

Ok, I just booked one for April 21st. I'll be 27+ weeks. My hubby said go for it, plus, I told him it would make a great early Mother's Day gift! Can't wait to see Gigi! And, the studio offers web streaming so my parents will get to watch from the West Coast too. Looking forward to seeing everyone's pics! Hugs, Allison

 Have fun ladies..post your beautiful babes when you get back.  Oh BTW, I live in Costa Rica and it costs $60 here to get one from the TOP sonographer in the country.  So if you are ever preggars (again) and coming here to vacation, contact me and I'll give you the details.  He speaks fluent English, gives you pics and a DVD.  Whatta deal...I  had no idea it was this pricey!
