from drugs.com:

"Do not take saw palmetto without telling your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Saw palmetto may be harmful to an unborn baby. It is not known whether saw palmetto passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this product without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. "

EEK! I think I'm going back to peppermint tea.Surprise

My doctor did not even know about Saw Palmetto to give me any info about it.

I read that if you take Saw Palmetto while pregnant it can affect the genitals of a male embryo.  I had not read anything about pre-pregnancy.  I know that Tamara does warn to stop taking it once you get the +OPK.

Thanks for the info! Even so, I tend to O the day of or right after a +OPK, so that's pretty close. I like the peppermint tea anyway, so it's not a major hardship. More than one gender or the other, i want a healthy baby. I figured i could share the info, and folks could make their own risk-assesment decisions.  For me, I think the tea is the way I'm going for now!

I think that I will be going with the peppermint tea as well even though I hate it!! Yuck

I have read that Saw Palmetto will actually help you put on weight not something that I really want either.

Has your doc given you any info on Saw Palmetto?

I 'think' it may be delaying my O (I have to admit though, I took what it said on the bottle, which may I think be a bit much).  It's the first month I've taken it.  I pretty much O between day 15 and 17...and here we are on day 18 and nothing, not a thing...my temps also seem a bit low.  I'm going to try half a tablet this morning and half this evening to see if that is low enough to let me O.  Very annoying as DH abstained for about 11 days, we DTD after I got a shift from a +OPK to a -OPK...I thought it was a pretty good attempt at a O+12...but as it is I think it's more likely to be a O+112!!!  I've had -OPK 's since the +OPK...but the temps say it all.....no sign of an egg!!

Maybe back to holding my nose while I drink peppermint tea.....YUK.

DD always asks me why I am drinking it when I so clearly do not like it.... that is a tough one to answer....Happy
