39 Week Check

Hi ladies,

Just thought I'd share my status.  Baby is still at -2.  I'm about 1 cm, but haven't thinned out yet and she said I'm still long-whatever that means.  So at this point, I'm scheduled for an induction next Wednesday if Gianna doesn't arrive before then.  I told the doctor that I don't want to be induced, but she's concerned that it would be difficult for me to deliver a baby over 9 lbs.  She's guessing it will be about that. 

 Just a quick note...

Being 'long' just means that your cervix is still long, not effaced.  It starts out long , thick and tough, then softens, starts to thin and spread out, becoming shorter.  HTH

I was 38 weeks, 1 cm, and not effaced, at 39 I was 3 cm 50% effaced, and stretched easily to 5cm, so maybe things will moe well for you and no induction will hae to happen!!

Thank you!  I wasn't sure, but I thought it was in reference to me not being effaced. 

 I hope you go into labor before next Wednesday so you don't have to be induced, but if you don't,I am sure everything will go fine  I am excited to have another one of our Feb babies here!

I will be sending LABOR thoughts your way, hopefully over the next week things gets going for you.  If not, I have  been induced quite a bit and it always went real well for me....don't worry you will be fine!!

I was induced this last time and everything went great. but i have heard horror stories. If you are unsure about being induced i really think you should tell your doc no. How is she guessing baby is over 9lbs? DId she do an ultrasound? Or is it just by feeling your tummy. I would request and ultrasound if you can. I have had a 9lb baby and a 9lb 11 oz baby. I think you can do it. Look what Jess just had. 10lbs! And look how tiny she is

I can't believe you only have 3 days till your due date!!

Hope you will manage to avoid the induction as it really doesn't sound like your body is ready yet.  But you have a week's grace to DIY, or at least get things progressing more so I will keep everything crossed for you.

Enjoy your last few days of pregnancy, believe me, very soon you'll find yourself missing your full belly!!

Thanks ladies!  I'm not worried about a big baby, I just want natural labor!!!!!!  I'm feeling like I might be having contractions right now.  I'm not sure.  Could be false labor.
