Hello I have recently purchased and used a dna gender kit from a place in sydney Australia called Nimble Diagnostics....They must be a part of pink or blue as i am directed to there US tell me pink or blue website for results..

I took the test at 10 weeks and recieved my results yesterday saying I am carrying a BOY....

I was in shock as I have 3 boys and 3 girls and was so sure this one was a girl! My last baby was a boy born in 2007. I wrote asking if this can affect the results and they said no!

Anyway I have just stumbled accross this board and wish I had sooner! Im only 13 weeks pregnant so to wait for my next scan seems like an eternity!

I notice there were alot of false results of boys in 2007...So I am wondering if they have fixed any testing problems in 2008? Or are there many more false results still happening?

Im after anyones recent experience with this company>...................

I also sent an email questioning there results as I have had a baby boy last year and this is the reply i recieved..

Dear Rona, Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. To answer your questions, your sample was received in our laboratory on Thursday, October 23. Two separate portions of your blood sample were tested for the presence of fetal Y-chromosomal DNA. Both times we were able to detect significant levels of Y-chromosomal DNA. In addition to this test we also run several control tests on the sample. One of these tests is to look for the presence of contaminating male DNA (Y-chromosomal DNA that is not from your current baby – which would also include any possible remaining DNA from your previous son). We did not detect any significant levels of this contaminating signal. All this data led us to conclude that you are expecting a baby boy.

thanks in adance to hopefully many replies :)

Wow I found out some more information today...............I'll cut and paste the email and see if anyone can shed some light? They have answered my questions in green.......the bit that really confuses me is that I have 3 boys and 3 girls already....My youngest is a boy and only 16 months old and they are saying i have no male dna what so ever in my blood from any previous pregnany the same as a woman who has never been pregnant?????????????? Only male dna detected from the baby I am now carrying!

oh and I bought this test from nimble diagnostics in sydney and had no idea it was part of pink or blue and would be sent to america for testing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Rona, Please see my response below in green. -Anna

hello,

Sorry but you dont seem to have answered my question of what levels of my previous sons dna was found in my test...???????? Can you perhaps send me a copy of the report done by the actual lab technician please? Although it is possible for DNA from previous male pregnancies to remain in the mother’s body after birth, this occurrence is extremely rare. In your case, we do not believe there is DNA from your previous sons in your blood. To give you a little bit of perspective on this issue, about 5% of all samples we receive are found to be contaminated. From these numerous samples, we have established cutoffs which we consider indicate strong contamination. There are also some samples where the amount of contamination detected is not very strong but on the “borderline” and in these cases, we ask these customers for a new test as well because we are not confident releasing a result to them. In your case, the amount of non-fetal male DNA detected was absolutely insignificant which means it was the same as a background sample (a sample from a female who is not pregnant and has never had a male pregnancy).  The only official report we have is the final result (the email you received).

Also I fail to understand WHERE my test was sitting all this time? PLEASE REFER TO CUT AND PATSTE ....Thank you for sharing your concerns with us. To answer your questions, your sample was received in our laboratory on Thursday, October 23......This response was sent to me when i questioned why my test was left sitting for a few weeks?? I sent them via express post to you and at latest they should have arrived on the 10th of October....So for almost 2 weeks prior to testing please inform me where were they? When you sent your sample back, did you send it directly to our laboratory in California, USA, or did you send it to Nimble Diagnostics? Given the time delay you experienced, I believe you sent your sample to Nimble and they had to forward it to our laboratory. If you did send it directly to our laboratory, did you use a courier or standard post? Standard international post can take up to 10 business days.

Also please inform what location was the lab they were tested in? The Consumer Genetics laboratory is located in Sunnyvale, California, USA.

perhaps my questions will be best discussed via phone, please provide me with a contact number... We would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have over the phone. Our phone number is 1-408-734-2229. We are open 9am to 6pm PST. We can also call you if you provide us with your phone number and a good time to call (that is between 9am and 6pm). Due to the time difference, we do not want to call you without your permission as it may be late at this time.

regards

Rona

oh and one more thing............Prior to purchaseing this test i had asked if by me recently giving birth to a son it could have any outcome on this test....there reply was....

Previous births do not affect the accuracy of our test. Any fetal DNA in the mothers bloodstream is lost within 1-2 months after birth. If you have any further questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact us. Yours sincerely, Kimberly BussonSales Representative

Due to all of the reports of false results from all brands of gender tests, I wouldn't put faith in the result.  Don't get your heart set either way.

Congrats on your 7th baby!!

I looked into the pink and blue test and i was told if you've had a child or even a miscarriage within the last 6 months (im not 100% on the time frame) that it may affect the test. Thank god i didnt do it i dont think it eases any bodys mind. You'll get your money back if they're wrong wont you?

Yes, that's true.  But it doesn't hurt to keep after them! I called them probably 8 times,  they probably just wanted to refund my money so I'd leave them alone!

Hi Rona,

I dont know if you still post to this board but Im hoping you still read your responses. Im in West Aust and Im trying to book in for an early scan 15weeks to try to find out the gender - I have 3 little boys and I am beyond desperate for a little girl too - anyway, after calling Subiaco Womens Imaging and being abused on the phone and calling my local ultrasound clinic and being told the same thing in a nicer way, Im wondering how did you get an earlier scan than the 19 weeks?? Ive been told I am unethical, that it is against regulations to do a scan purely for gender, that I should be hoping for a healthy baby not a boy or girl etc etc. One lady even hung up on me. I was a little bit "irritated" by the response of the health proffession. I am the one paying for my medical treatment, Im not bludging off a health care card but no they all insisted it wouldnt be accurate and that they would not do it. Just hoping you had any advice for me?? Thanks anyway, Danielle
