Should I be concerned about my DD? Her soft spot seems a little sunken tonight. She has a bit of a cold and a cough. I took her to the pedi. on Sat. to look at her cough and he said her lungs are perfect and no fever, etc. Said she just has a cold and may be spitting up more b/c of extra mucous---which she has been doing. She is peeing normally, making tears and her mouth feels damp. Does her sunken soft spot indicate dehydration. She has been eating a little less and spitting up more....what should I do???

That is what I thought. I was under the impression that sunken soft spots= dehydration.
3 + 1 = 100% complete. May all who come to You be glad and joyful. May all who are thankful for Your salvation always say, "How great is the LORD!" Psalm 40:16

Almighty Creator, Hear this prayer and the wishes of my heart. You know my deep desire for a child, a little one to love and to hold, to care for, to cherish. grant that my body may conceive and give birth to a beautiful, healthy baby in Your holy image. Guide me in all my choices so that this conception, my pregnancy and my baby's birth are in line with Your will. Heavenly Father hear this prayer of my heart, mind and spirit. Amen~

As long as she's got plenty of wet diapers and tears, she should be fine. I know it's freaky, though...dd has a huge spot and that sucker can really sink in sometimes. It's not as noticeable now but it sure used to be.
Poor thing. I hope she feels better soon!

A sunken soft spot can be a sign of dehydration, but the other thing you mentioned are good indicators too. If she starts peeing less or stops making tears that would be cause for concern. Is there any way you can get her to eat more? Maybe feed her more often?

DS had a soft spot for a long long time!!! it only closed after he turned 2. but his used to be sunken in a lot of the time. i agree with alli and the pp on this one! just watch her. it is only a bad sign if you have other symptoms.

This is correct. I went through this with DS#2. It was pretty scary. He was only a few months old. They had me take him completely off breast milk and formula for 48 hours. He was allowd nothing but pedilite. They almost put him on an IV because he wasn't crazy about the pedilite. I would contact the Dr. and let him know, it could lead to bigger problems if she does't start drinking more. The advice from the other is great....GL!

it can be a sign of dehydration, like the other girls said, keep an eye on her wet diapers and just get her to eat as much as you can. If it seems to get worse or not better, I would call her peds office and see what they say.
