Okay, you probably already know this but I have been through 3 other babies and didn't realize it but if you kind of fold baby's knees and legs up towards the belly and gently roll then it really helps release the gas.  Now, everytime that Benjamin starts passing little "popcorn poots" as I call them I will lift one or both of his legs up towards his belly and then he passes a big one....or two.  Just thought I would pass on my new found info....(and I am not using gas meds as much anymore).

yeah, I do that with my baby too.  It also helps him if he's having trouble with a bowel movement.

Sorry, I just saw this thread right now.  And thank you so much for thinking of me...

The thing is, Alyssa is gassy beyound belief, she IS slowly improving, but she is BAD.  I mean, when i can hear gassy bubbles running through her intestines from ACROSS the room, it's bad, and I also feel them all the time while holding her.  We do the "leg" trick but it really doesn't do much, for her.  The only thing that really helps at all is laying her on her belly across my lap, and it'll usually calm her down in a very gassy time.  She woke up 3 times last night and didn't eat ANY of those times, but was awaken by her gassy tummy...I feel so bad for her.

a similar sort of thing but my dh read that if you move their legs gently as if riding a bicycle that also helps too.

sometimes holding them facing outwards helps release wind too and my midwife used to suggest giving them a chance to stretch out by holding them up in front of you as if you were lifting them up and gently move them up and down a bit

but i would expect you have tried everything as we did when ds1 was born and used to cry all the time!

does she have a dummy ( soother / pacifier?)  that can sometimes help them take their mind off of the pain

We have 4 different pacifiers that we have tried to offer Benjamin when he is gassy and fussy but he will not take ANY of them.....of coarse when he's feeling okay he will take any of the 4.
