We found out last week we're having a DD and I wanted to share my attempt in hopes of helping someone else struggling to conceive a DD. For some background, I started trying last October and became pg on my second attempt, using an instead cup and TBM. Unfortunately, I had a miscarriage early in the pregnancy, and sat out a few cycles before attempting again. I had 2 BFNs after that, again trying to TBM one cycle and J&D the next. Here's what I did the for next cycle:
We bd'ed 5 days in a row, and then my DH was out of town for the next 2 days(leaving us with a 2.5 day cut off), and I O'd the day he returned (fortunately) in time for an O+12 (I think it was actually an O+9). I made up a new solution of pickling vinegar and distilled water every other day with a ph of 4.5, and did a douche every morning in the shower, and about an hour before we bd. We did shallow pen each time, and I lay for 20-25 minutes afterwards, hoping the boys would get 'zapped' on the way! At that point, I used 1 ml of the pv solution, and dipped an instead cup in the solution so that it became saturated and covered with beads of water/ pv, and inserted. Through some experimenting, I found that the ph in the cup would rise sometime between the 1-2 hour mark. I took the cup out at the 1 hour mark, and added another 1 ml more to the contents of the cup and replaced it. Once I would take it out in the morning, the ph was consistently 5.
I followed diet and supplement guidelines from another site. , I think that the instead cup made the difference in getting pg, and the pv made the difference in having a girl. I am so grateful to Tamara for bringing the pv study to our attention, and all of the other tips I picked up on In-Gender! This is definitely an In-Gender girl and we are thrilled to have her join our family! Please feel free to ask any questions and I will be sure to pm Shel with other details of the attempt. All the best and good luck to all!
