All the power rangers, transformers, ninja turtles, etc are getting so tedious to me.  What do you all find to do with your boys that you actually enjoy too?  I'd love some fresh ideas!

Webkinz! We got them for the boys for Christmas, and I got my first one a week later. It is really fun to do with them, and such a refreshing alternative to the constant Bionicle, Pokemon, testosterone-driven stuff. It's fun to play online with them, and my boys love the stuffed animals and we have had wonderful games with them too.

I love to get my boys outside in the cul-de-sac and all of us ride bikes together. We also have a great time swimming. When we go in the pool, we play "Olympics" (lately) and also play games like pirate (protect the fort with water guns type of thing).

Inside, I like to play games (Hullabaloo is a favorite of ours to play together), set up a zoo with blocks and plastic animals, build Legos...my 7 yo is very into building lego sets now and he and I can spend hours building one...it's so fun. And lastly, I admit, I LOVE to play Nintendo Wii games with them, especially Mario Kart. lol

I don't like playing "guys" (Star wars, Marvel figures) much but I force myself to do it occasionally b/c I think it is important to sometimes do something that they love even though you don't like it much. Have you ever read the book "Playful Parenting"? It's a really great book about just that very thing.

LOL...my boys used to call it "playing guys" too!  (Add Clone Troopers into the mix though.)  Just to drive them crazy, I would sometimes make my "guys" want to go shopping.     That would usually get me kicked out every time!

I have done that too. I'll be Princess Lia and be like "Hey Hans Solo. Do you want to go and get something to eat? I heard there was a great new resteraunt in town." My son: "MOM, That's not how you play guys!"

"playing guys"- that's so cute!  We have a whole toy box chock full of "guys."  The only girl we have is Emma Frost,so that's who I always have to be.  My superhero geek brother assures me that she's totally kick-ass, so I don't mind playing her. My oldest, Owen always likes to play that Emma and Harry Potter get married.  Spiderman is usually the officient and they always go to Ohio for their honeymoon.   Snakesnsnails- we always make the guys play restaurant too- maybe this is the only way we get to go on dates these days- live hypothetically through the action figures!  AprilMay- thanks for the book referral- I will definitely check it out!

bike riding, painting,gardening

 Favourites are anything outside, soccer, running races, lots of olympic stuff at the moment, treasure hunt, bike riding

I'm a bit of a tom boy, so I like riding scooters and kicking a ball, anything really that gets us outside, we are definatley an outdoors family and this way I get to do some exercise too!

I guess I'm fortunate that my boys are not into trends.  They love cars, trucks and trains but they are not into the latest stuff like transformers and other toys.  My boy like building things.  And they love painting.  Lots and lots of paint.  I think we go through buckets of paint.  We get wood from home depot and they paint the wood and make boats with their dad...LOL.  They love playing in the sandbox and love playing in water.  I have large buckets of water that i put in the kitchen and they float their boats or just do stuff in the water.  Kinda messy but I am not really too strict about that.  I expect them to make huge messes all day...LOL.  We do a lot of puzzles and play chess too.  Of course my older son cheats all day long.  Trying to get him to stop that, but he wants to win so he is a sneek....ha.  We play other board games too but they really are into chess right now.  I am a playdough nut so I am always up for doing that.  I also cook with my boys.  Each week we agree on a recipe and then we go to the grocery store and "create a masterpiece" that daddy will love....haha...at least that is what they say.  They also love to bake with me.  We are getting into baking season and my hips are screaming NOOOOOO!  All the cookies and pies...my goodness.  And my boys don't let up...they want to bake!  I would love to get into gardening with the boys but I have to face facts that I do NOT have a green thumb.  I don't want to promise them they will have a wonderful garden unless I learn how to keep a good garden.  So basically, I do everything I would do with any child and my boys love it.  They are always up for a new idea.  They get bored easily so I gotta keep them interested and busy.

Dancing!!!!!  I put on the stereo way high and we dance like crazy!!!!  I also like to cook with them, and they all love it, for a little while anyway, and reading, books are great and I have turned my 3 year old onto cinderella, he loves her, he thinks she is beautiful.

I get so tired of the action figures, cars trucks, leggos, boy shows and movies, ugh!!! can you tell  I have been playing boys games for over 15years!!!!!!

I enjoy going outside with them for bike/scooter riding, pulling them in the wagon, SIDEWALK CHALK, going for "adventure walks," etc.  But outside stuff is hard to do in the summer here until late in the evening.

I like to color, dance, play games, build with blocks, read books, etc...

Ill just recap what others have said-- we love legos (which actually allows me to watch something I like--or atleast listen to it while building) and we love dancing. We will just turn on music and dance around--especially when I clean. It is a lot of fun. I was thinking of doing some gardening with my 3.5 yr old--I think he might like planting things. We also get the water color books (with the color dots on the paper) and paint or do other things like that that are at the dollar store. My oldest loves going there and picking out a 'project'. Aren't boys just too much--they crack me up daily!
