I am very upset with Acu-Gen also.  They have suggested to me in a recent email of 8 different rare possibilities that could make my baby not the sex indicated.  This would mean I have a difformed baby rather than a healthy baby.  Hummmmm

I received a $250 refund today after being told my baby has chromosonal defects by Acu-Gen.  They said they only refunded me because they felt bad about my situation... Hummmm.

Anything else?  I am a mom and an attorney, and I am a planner.  My husband and I decided to take this test because we looked into the research and it sounded legitimate, and we were really anxious to find out the sex of the baby.  We were thrilled when we discovered BOY through BGM test because we already have 1 girl.  We dont know for sure yet because I havent had the ultrasound, but from the other women who have, we are now preparing ourselves that it may not be a BOY after all.  We have spent almost the last 3 months bonding and preparing for what we have been thinking is our baby boy (and still may be).  Of course, a healthy baby is our main concern, but it will feel like a loss to our family if the results were wrong.  The other attorney that I work for and his wife are also expecting a baby and they too, took the BGM test.  They have 4 BOYS already and were just thrilled to learn their results said GIRL.  They have not yet had their ultrasound or amnio to confirm, but will also experience a great deal of anguish if the results are indeed wrong.  Our law firm is currently looking into these claims against this company.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about your legal rights.  I hope they will stand by their refund for all of these families who were given inaccurate results.

I gave birth to my DAUGHTER on 2/6/06.... BGM IS WRONG.... and I have sent in the birth certificate and they are denying my refund b/c I won't send in her footprints. ( this was not required when I purchased the test). They are doing everything they can to prevent paying me the 200% they owe. this test is a SCAM.

My test results were wrong as well, the common trend I see here is mostly the test giving a BOY result and the U/S showing GIRL... usually confirmed 2 and 3 times... this is what has happened to me. I am spending so much money trying to find out for "sure" so I can go on with my planning. It is very stressful to be doubting yourself everyday even when the sonogram techs are 150% sure. Anyhow, if your firm decides to take legal action or file suit I would love to be included.

Anything else: I was originally disappointed to find out I was having a boy because there are boys throughout both sides of our families.  But then, as time went on, I really warmed up to the idea.  I felt that I had really bonded with my "son" Jack.  I envisioned him dressed as a cowboy, playing with matches, and basically tearing down the house, LOL.  Well, now I have to re-bond with my daughter Sophie.  And while I'm thrilled the baby is in perfect health, I really think the whole thing [is bad].

Anything else? If I had known that this test wasn’t really 99.9% accurate, I would never have wasted my money. I am very angry that this has been marketed to pregnant women without adequate testing and scientific review. I am willing to join in on any lawsuits being filed against the companies involved in marketing this bogus test, and I hope the companies will at least refund the cost of my test due to the unnecessary emotional turmoil caused by their lack of accuracy.

Anything else?  i wish i had never heard of this infernal test.  my whole life i have wanted a baby girl.  when we did the blood test i fully expected to see that i was having a boy; that is the way things usually happen for me :)  so imagine my delight and joy when BGM said girl!  we were ecstatic and our families were, too.  she was to be the first granddaughter on both sides.  when we had our 18 week ultrasound imagine my surprise in being told my little girl is a boy!  i cried right then.  not because i hate boys.  because our little sarah was ripped away from us with no warning.  she had a name and a song and clothes and a doll...  i would tell any expectant mother to avoid this test like the plague.  it is not worth the heartache and getting money back hardly seems like any consolation, assuming i ever see a refund.  april

 

UPDATE- after i got the rude email from acugen (see "you won't believe this email from acugen") i called and insisted on being retested.  i told dr. wang that i knew my baby was a boy regardless of what he said and i wanted them to see that, and assuming there is ANY science to their methods the new test would show boy.  sure enough, i got my results last night and my new sample says BOY.  imagine that!  i told him all along.  so i called and he said it is a reversal and they don't know why.  he asked me some weird questions that made me suspicious, like were both the blood samples actually mine and did i take any fertility medication and have i had ultrasounds showing the baby is healthy....  i thought that was fishy.  anyway he said there may be no explanation and that if they confirmed the samples were both mine they would send me a refund.  he said they would let me know by monday november 28.  i just hope the check won't bounce!
