    Thailand vs USA?

Hi everyone, Since my cycle was cancelled I am just wondering if I shouldn't try it in the USA and wanted to know if anyone had any information on if one country would be better than another one? Just curious, at this point we could choose either. We do need the pgd (not so much for sex as chromosome issues) and I see that they have it available now there too. Any information would be great. Thanks, Kerri

    K,

If you've never done IVF before, you can't go wrong going to the US, especially if you can stay with friends or family to cut down on costs. The language barrier is a little frustrating. I had done IVF a couple times already prior to going to BKK, so didn't need to ask too many questions. Still the procedure is more expensive in the US than in Thailand, and heading back to the US is more costly than flying to BKK from GZ. Since you don't have any children yet, going to the US wouldn't be as much of a strain (bringing sm children on that flight is a b*tch!). Take a look at the PGD and Microsort Forum. Tons of posts there about different clinics.

    Good luck with your decision.

    Re: Thailand vs USA?

Thanks again for all of your updated information. It is always helpful. I have already scheduled to go to Thailand in October now. I haven't to many problems with the language so I feel very confident that if their skills are up to date and the equipment then I should be just fine. How is your little bundle of joy doing? I am so happy for you. It is the most exciting thing to hear of your success. I know I will have good successes to no matter how it all comes around. Have a great weekend. Kerri

    Hi Kerri,

    How exciting, October !!!

Would you mind if you have a sec, just letting us know the exact steps you took to get the process going.

1.) Did you go to a GP and get referred to where?

2.)How is the drug schedule worked out?  Is this decided by the Aussie Doc, or are your results sent to BKK and they tell you what to take?

3.) Do you get meds at home, if so what where they and the cost, are they covered by the PBS?

Sorry for all the questions.  Thanks ever so much

Hi Kerri, I am hoping to schedule IVF PGD in Thailand in January 2009. I am very interested in your impressions on SART. Also I'm trying to do some cost comparision but it is hard for me to understand what exactly I will need. So I'd also be interested in any info about costs too. Thanks so much. All my best, best wishes for you this month!!!!

If you are in Australia go through Sydney IVF they pretty much organise it all for you. Making it as stress free as possible. Just go to their website and find the sex selection window and I think they info is all there. The lady you deal with in Aust is called Robyn (?) and she is so lovely.

    Hi Kerri,

I just want to know if your Thai schedule in Oct starts. I've heard that there were some riots in Bangkok so I am afraid of my schedule for there will be postponed...

    All best wishes to you,
