    Almighty Creator,

Hear this prayer and the wishes of my heart. you know my deep desire for a child, a little one to love and to hold, to care for, to cherish. grant that my body may conceive and give birth to a beautiful, healthy baby in Your holy image. Guide me in all my choices so that this conception, my pregnancy and my baby's birth are in line with Your will. Heavenly Father hear this prayer of my heart, mind and spirit.

    Amen~

YES YES YES...helping other women with BFing is one of my passions in life!  As soon as we get pg I plan to start working on becoming a LLL leader.  I would love for there to be a board to share thoughts/advice/questions with other women on this topicHappy Smile

....plus I've been going through a lot emotionally not being able to nurse my DD #3.  I had to wean her because I had to have surgery and also for my IVF cycles (which didn't work).  I would love for there to be board where I can discuss this more.  I miss nursing a baby/toddler!!

BF is emotional isnt it.  My ds4 weaned 3 weeks ago at 20 months, it was bitter-sweet but I will have a new baby soon so I'm looking forward to that!

Yeah, if I was pg then I'd be okay with it...it's the fact that I'm not nursing a baby/toddler at all and I have no idea if or when I'll get pg againSad

I love this idea!!  I just weaned DD#3 4 weeks ago at the age of 1 year--sadly due to pressure to do so by family membersSad  I would love to have a place to talk about this after we have our next child.  Next time around, I plan on bf'ing longer no matter what the family says as it will be our last baby!Love Ya!

Good attitude!!  You go for it and don't worry about what they think.  It will also help you prevent breast cancer the longer you nurse during your lifetime in terms of years.  Plus it makes children SOOO smart!  Their brains need it til they are 3 and their livers until they are 7 (a LLL leader told me this)...I'm not advocating nursing from the breast that long...but it can be pumped and given to them in a cup.  I especially do this after I have a new baby and I'm totally engorged...it works out greatHappy LMAO  I love talking about BF...what a gift we can give to our children and to ourselves!  SOOO many benefits!

Re: Should we have a breastfeeding forum?

Nobody in my family or in DH's ever breastfed--well, MIL pumped with her DD since she was born at 24 weeks--but nobody ever nursed.  Soon to be SIL *tried* bf'ing, but she was too concerned with starving herself to get back to pre=pregnancy weight, and missed drinking alcohol too much, that she only nursed for 3 weeks.  Anyway, the family seemed bothered by the fact that once DD was getting teeth and reaching her first b-day--and when she wanted nursed she would stick her hand down my shirt or say "Mama baba"--they thought it was time to stop--my step MIL even went as far as not wanting us at her house!!  And soon to be SIL let me know that when they have another baby she will try bf'ing again but "There is no way in H*LL that she would nurse past 6 months because THAT IS JUST WRONG"  WTF??? How is that wrong?

I am upset with myself for being pressured to stop now--and I just hope that I am not "punished" next time by not being able to breastfeed for some bizarre reason!  My MIL would make comments like "well, we don't want her going to preschool still nursing!"  Like I would do that!  And my mom thought that after DD nipped me a few times that I should just cut her off from nursing--she did not understand that DD was not aware that she now had teeth and was nipping!!

Don't be so hard on yourself...you made it to a year....that is definately something to be proud of!  I don't think you'll be "punished"...you have experience being an excellent BF mom and there is so much support out there, even if something bizarre did come up I know you could get through it and still nurse.  You'd be amazed at how many obstacles can be overcome with the right BF support and a little determination from the mom.  LLL meetings really helped me as well as their books and articles.  What gave you the courage/determination to BF even though it was so uncommon in your family?  Was your dh always supportive?  I kwym about the nipping thingHappy  I would just pull them off quickly and say in a surpised and firm voice "no, no"; only took like 2 or 3 times and they didn't do it after that.  Plus they usually only did it at the end of the feeding and they were just 'playing' because they weren't hungry anymore so I think you learn to take them off when they are done actively drinking.

Oh and your SILs comment about 'going past 6 months is just wrong'.  Maybe you could print up an article for her about the benefits of going to a year (I would start there with her and not talk about the benefits of extended BF yetHappy Giggle).

We only get a short time to give our children the best foundation in life plus it goes by so fast!
