I am just wondering, especially those of you who have pierced a baby not older girl.....who has had their doctor pierce them?

A lot of doctors don't do it anymore.  No one near me would.  I know...I asked a bunch of them....LOL

I've never known anyone who had their doc do it, but I'm thinking if mine does, I'd like him to do DDs.  I bet he doesn't!

It seemed like it was a liability thing or something when I asked.  Like my doctor was totally beating around the bush on it.  I bet they get complaints from moms if the holes are not perfect or something.  Mainly because it's probably hard to be perfect with a needle and that is probably what they would use.  I was willing to buy the gun from walmart and have him just do it that way and he still refused....LOL

I did not even think to ask my doctor. I went to a reputable jeweller store.

My childrens Ped office of 20+ Pediatricias will not pierce ears. When I called they said they don't offer any information about when, etc. I ended up going to my local mall at Peircing Pagoda when she was 3 1/2 months. Everything was sterile. They use 1 time packaged sterile piercers and the earrings are in sterile packaging. I saw everything she did, she put on the rubber gloves, cleaned baby's ears w/alcohol wipes, made the marks w/black marker. When she proceeded to open the piercers(guns, whatever they're called) I felt much more comfortable in my decision since they were 1x use only and a seperate one for each ear. It was definitely painful though, as much as I was regretting she would go through. It seemed much worse than the shots cry, but she's only had 1 set so far. I'm happy with my decision.

I went with the 14k gold CZ's since her birthstone is diamond. I also chose the larger pair of piercing cz's as per the lady that worked there b/c she said you see them better. I'm glad I did b/c they sparkle and shine beautifully, she gets so many compliments and it's not even been 2 weeks.

Here is a pic, its hard to get pics of the earrings head on b/c of her chubby cheeks.

My ped office does them at four months and we went ahead.  Not regretted it once.  They do both ears at the same time.  I'll do the same with my new DD.

My dr said that he would rather people come to the office to have them done rather than go somewhere unknown or try to do them at home.  He said a lot of cultures do them at home by tradition and he feels uncomfortable with that.  So he had his nurses trained to do it.

When I was "patiently" waiting for Kaylee to turn 3 months old I noticed a sign in my peds office stating to ask about ear-piercings (or something like that)...I thought it was a good idea to see about the ped doing it, but when I mentioned it to dh he didnt like the idea.  He wanted me to take her somewhere reputable where the people do it all the time and KNOW what they are doing.  I guess I agree with him, it does make sense....

And where I took her, the equiptment was completely sterile--I had no worries about that aspect.

Sarah, where did you take her?  I have had my ears pierced at the mall and Walmart, but when it comes to my tiny baby (or no matter how old she is when I do it) I'd rather not go somewhere where they re-use the gun.  I know I've seen these baby's first ear piercing kits, maybe I could get them to use one of those.  Gee, I'm glad I have several months to worry about this.  I was glad to not have a boy to get circumsized, now this!!!!
