I had to post this because I am SO irritated!

My grandma came to visit with my dad the other day. And I should mention she is 89 and losing her mind, but still her comments are horrible. Her first comment to me was "Oh my gosh your showing already... Just don't let this happen again!". I was just shocked! My relpy was "Grandma, we wanted 3!" and then she replied "Why would anyone ever want 3 kids?". I felt like telling her to turn around and go back home but instead I said "We love our kids and we have always wanted 3". To which she replied "Good, just don't let it happen again!". My dad was rolling his eyes at her, because he's been there, my parents had 4 kids. She even "disowned our family" for a while after my mom had my youngest brother because she was so against it.

I just really don't understand why people can't keep negative comments to themselves. I mean really, just because 3 isn't for them, doesn't mean it's not right for me.

Aren't grandma's supossed to be sweet and loving? What happened to mine?!?!?!?!

Just had to vent.....

me too and she's not 89 so i can't wait to see what the next 15 years brings!  i hope i can be pleasant to my kids & grandkids when i'm up in age!  i wanna be that sweet granny!!!

Just let it go, older people just say dumb stuff sometimes.  I think with age you just don't care what others think and you say what you want.

I wonder what your Grandma would think of me, pregnant with my 5th and 6th kids!

Try to let it go  -  I know it's hard. People just don't think before they speak.  My husbands family is the same way about not keeping their negative comments to themselves.  I almost hate announcing pregnancies to them.  Next time I want to wait until I start showing to announce it.  I feel like telling them you don't have to raise them or pay for them so what's your problem?!?!  Enjoy the pregnancy and ignore the negativity.

 

 

My husband step mother ( never had biological kids of her own)is known to say rude things. When I was pregnant with my second child my sister-in-law asked how I was feeling.I  said "much better than with my first." MIL said " Well ya, you are all stretched out now" Then proceded to tell me back in her day women didn't have babies in their 30's. I am lucky my kid is normal.
