when should i call?

this is my big year.  I'm anxious and nervous and above all really excited.  I will do pgd/ivf for a girl.  I live very close to the doctor and I have called and they told me I do not need that much time in advance to book an appointment.  I'd like to get preg early summer and I'm so anxious I don't know when I should call for an appointment.  How long appox is the preliminary stuff take?  when did you call for your appointment and when did you actually get preg?

Hi and congratulations on your decision.  Although I booked my appts well in advance, I actually didn't chose the 1st doc I consulted with.  If you consult with a doctor and decide you are not comfortable with him, you will have more time to shop around.  I just started my IVF/PGD cycle on Jan 1st, and consulted with my dr. in October.  That gave my time to get my Day 2/3 blood work, my initial consult with ultrasound, complete bloodwork, a Hysterosalpintogram (HSG) between day 5 and 12 and attend the orientation/injection class.  I did not cylce in December because I thought the holidays would be too stressful.  So now I am officially in CD3 of my IVF/PGD cycle.  So for me the whole initial process took about 3 months and I was very comfortable with that this gave me enough time to digest the whole idea, ask a lot of questions and becoming prepared and properly informed about everything.  I hope this helps and the best of luck to you!  I hope this will be both of our big years for a baby girl!!!

thanks for the info.  I'm still weaning my 11 month old.  I'd like to get preg when he's around 18 months or so, so I know I have time, but I just can't stop thinking abou it!  I'm starting to calm down a bit actually and realized that the time will come.  Good luck to you.
