OMG Twins & Colic - vent

Damn. I thought maybe we'd skip the colic since God figured we had enough on our plate.  Nope.  It's been a few weeks now of evening screaming.  First it was just Georgia and a mildly fussy Vivian.  Now Vivian adds to the symphony of screaming.  I cook dinner with one hand while holding a baby.  We eat standing up and bouncing a baby which gives me heartburn.  Tonight Vivian wouldn't nurse, too fussy, so I was holding both pump shields and bouncing her in the bouncy seat with my foot.  She's screaming her head off and DH tried to hand me a bottle to pour some milk into and I just held up my other foot and asked what did he think I was going to use????  Later I tried my hands free pumping bra with Vivian tucked between my boobs trying to rock and console her.  Ugh!  All the while DH is dealing with screaming Georgia and my poor boys are learning to fend for themselves.  They don't even ask for bedtime stories anymore.  I shudder to think of the tooth brushing that is not taking place.

I don't know how some of you gals do it with toddlers or DH's that aren't around.   My DH finally got the hang of the screaming at night.  It used to really bug him and he'd have to hand me both babies and leave for awhile.  We figured out that more regular DTD helped his stress level A LOT.  Enough to make me put out even though I really don't feel like it.  Stick out tongue

This gets better right?  I feel like a mole person.  I so rarely get outside that the sun hurts my eyes.  Calgon take me away...

Wow--they say we are given what we can handle.  I think you are handling this well!  Definitely better than I could.  Hang in there sweetie, the colic WILL go away eventually.

Colic with one was very challenging for me but I admire you and your DH for doing it with two.  Don't worry about your older boys.  DS1 would get himself up in the am (as I had only fallen asleep around 6 am since little bugger was up ALL night screaming), get his bowl of cereal and turn on the TV.  I would get up around 11 (The Price is Right!) and try to spend some time with him. He was so understanding.

Do you have friends that can spend time with the boys?  That was the most amazing thing for me.  We had a few friends that would pick DS1 up to play, swim, or just get out of the house since I couldn't ever get out.  I understand your thoughts about the sunlight.  I planned for a baby in the summer because I thought that it would be so nice for DS1 and we would get to do more.  He has already asked that if we have another baby I have it in the winter because you stay inside in the winter anyway.  He will tell me that the summer that DS2 was born was "awful!"

Good luck and vent as much as you need. It is so frustrating but "this too shall pass."  Keep those babies swaddled, moving and run your vacuum all of the time.

They are both on zantac for reflux. I gave up dairy a few days ago.  I'm on the fence with breastfeeding.  I've had thrush for weeks and weeks.  I'm so uncomfortable.  I loved nursing my boys but this is soooo hard.  I've been taking Domperidone to increase milk supply and now I have such a strong let down that Vivian (my nurser) chokes and won't nurse.  AHhhhhhh!  But I need lots of milk when I pump for Miss Georgia.

Georgia does not poop very often.  She's gone 12 days now.  We are off to the doc for their 2 month check today and we'll see what he says.  I hope he doesn't want them to have shots today.  Oh Lord I am not sure I could handle that.  I'm so tired of being worried all the time. Sad

Gosh, I feel for you. I don't have twins, but my firstborn had colic...3 hours of crying nonstop for a little under 4 months. Don't worry, it will all be over soon...one day they will just stop crying. It's kinda wierd, but a big relief!

Oh boy!!  I sure hope this passes quickly for you!!  You are an amazing Mother and you will make it through this alive.  In the grand scheme of things this is a very short period of time in your boys lives and they will be fine!!  Just keep doing what your doing and you are doing a great job!!!!  I'm glad that your DH is helping more even if it means  giving a little back!!Stick out tongue
