I'm sorry I haven't been around this forum lately...some "leader" I am!  I think I am just trying to avoid thinking about my age, LOL.  Having a baby at 37 really was so much  harder on me physically than in my early 20's.  I look like I've aged ten years in one year!

There are myths about being a Mature Mommy.  One is that you have more patience, and another is that you have less energy.  I was a young mom, and now I'm a mature mom, so I can speak on these myths with authority, and I will admit I have more patience and yes, LESS energy!

Do any of you have a large age gap and can speak on these myths?

I don't have such a large age gap but my patience has trippled with this baby than with the other 3.  I definetly needed more ME time before whereas now i am much more easy going and enjoy doing kid things more.

Thankfully i haven't notice a big drop in energy but that might be because of all the caffine and sugar i consume!

having children in my early twenties was pretty easy i was thinner and had energy, having children now in my late 30`s and now 40 its been easier than i thought, im heavier and that makes it a bit harder but me no complain! i dont quite have the same energy though!!

having more patience? yes, very much so...

I would have actually thought that the young-uns would have more patience, not sure why, perhaps because I'm old and crabby for no particular reason.  Oh, hang on, there are a couple of reasons...school holidays, 5 boys at my place yesterday for a play-date, a bossy 5 yr old girl over for a sleep over that will probably wake at 5am........

I had my first at 21 and my last at 39 so  I have experience on both young and mature motherhood.  I am more patient and I probably had less enegry but I've lost 30 lbs and feel much better.  I can't say that being young or mature is better - they both have advantages.

I agree there are advantages on both sides but I am totally convinced I/we get better with age as far as patience and such especially!
