    Breast Pumps

I'm planning to buy an electric breast pump soon.

Is Medela the best breast pump out there?

I got the Playtex Embrace double-pump system and i LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Its a closed system so I don't have to worry about contamination or milk ending up anywhere other than the bottles, and I think I'll have an easier time selling it b/c of that. It works even better than the Medela, IMO, although I only tried the Medela once. Just seems to me that let-down happens sooner with this pump. It's a little cheaper, too.

Plus, it came with a bunch of neat accessories- car charger, cooler bag, extra bottles, and several neat little storage bags.

I have a medela pump in style and I like it!  I have only used this pump and a manual pump so I like the medela much better!  I'm not using now b/c I'm not working anymore and ds4 will not take a bottle.  When I was working I used everyday and never had any problems it will pump lightly and fast so you will let down quickly and then change over to a longer deeper pump to empty the breast.  There are a ton of pumps out there I hope you find one you like!

It is such a personal thing. I've used the hospital grade electric and it was only so-so. I bought a PIS and I did NOT love it. The horns were too hard for me. I felt it was "rough" so I bought the optional silicon pads to put inside. HONESTLY for best me the best pump (where I got the most milk) was the AVENT ISIS. It was SO easy! I just loved the convience and it did not tire my hand at all. If I suctioned I could just leave it in that position and the milk would flow. I found the PIS disturbing at its own "rate". I liked controling my own better :) See if you can rent before you buy!!! The ISIS is cheap though so I'd highly suggest that in addition to any electric!! :)

I never could get the ISIS to work for me.  I got a new Medela PIS when the twins were born.  Check with your insurance.  Mine covered it at 80% if I bought it from a medical supply place.
