Hi ladies,

I was involved in the BGM mess that happened last year.  What I have to stress to everyone is that these companies honestly believe that they have the science to predict gender.  BGM and P and B are both "scientific" and the makers did not create the tests to "scam" people.  The problem has arrisen that the science is not perfected like they think it is....and they are not willing to pull their products until they figure it out.  I would be hesitant to put my faith in a urine test.  Everything that I have read about these DNA gender tests say that one day the science will be figured out with the blood DNA test, but none have pointed to urine.  There is already a urine test out that predicts gender with a much lower accuracy rate (Urolobioligics...I think but may have spelled it wrong).  This test costs a few hundred dollars.  I would be very leary of a urine test that costs $30 and claims to be so accurate.  I only say this so that you truly take it just for fun.  Don't put your hope in the answer until your scan.  We had all heard "great" things about BGM and it had national media coverage.  You just can't always believe what you hear until the proof is really in.  Companies also pump their products online by putting "customers" around telling their stories.  Some of these testimonials may not be exactly what they say they are.  I would just hate for any woman to have to go thru disappointment when they are given incorrect results of the gender of their baby.  For me, I was lucky, I had a DS and was hoping for a DD.  BGM told me boy and it turned out to be my beautiful little girl, but there are many women who were disappointed and hurt by being the guinea pigs for these tests.  I will continue to track the record of this intelligender test to see if the results stand  true.  Good luck to you all!!!  Happy pregnancies!

Hi Lora!

I'm so sorry about your bad experience with BGM! I have heard so many horror stories about them. I'm not putting all of my faith into the Intelligender test for that very reason. I'm taking it, but mostly for fun. Since I only have 1 son, the gender of this baby isn't a huge deal. If it's a boy, great, if it's a girl --- yay! I would love to have a daughter next, but if that's not what's in the cards for me then there's always next time :)  So, if the intelligender test says "boy", my heart wont be broken and I wont be depressed for the next 32 weeks, kwim? I want to take it out of curiosity about the test mostly and because it will be fun to find out if it's actually right. It's not like the DNA tests or Uriobiologics that are hundreds and hundreds of dollars. We're talking 30 bucks here, lol. My sweet hubby just ordered the test for me. We worked it into the Christmas budget as part of "our" present. It should be here any day now and I am taking it on Christmas day, which is when I'll be 8 weeks along. I'm curious to see what it looks like. Anyone want me to take pics of the kit when I get it? I know I'm curious about it so if anyone else is, let me know!

Oh, and your kids are adorable Lora! Your little man is the same age as my little boy, just a few months older. They're both precious. Glad you got your girl!

Hi ladies,

I'm new here and currently expecting. I'm almost 14wks and I will purchase the test and report my results back to you. Also, I am scheduling an U/S the week after Christmas because I'm very impatient. LOL. I have 2 wonderful DS and love a DD. I'll be 16wks then.

Ok, so I got the test in the mail and opened it. (wont use it yet because I'm waiting until I'm 8 weeks along -- Dec. 25th).

It comes with a cup to pee in, a syringe to measure out 20cc's of pee, and a little clear container with a cap on it and some crystals at the bottom. You obviously mix the pee with the crystals. The little crystals are very fine and white, and have little flakes of metal mixed in. When I first saw it I immediately thought "drano test". Does anyone know what Drano crystals look like that you use for that gender test that's floating around the internet? I've never seen them before so I don't know if they look anything like what I'm describing.

I hope this Intelligender thing isn't just a scam. I say I'm not going to put my faith into this test, but I just know that when I take it I'll be 100 times more antsy to find out if it was right or not.

I'll update when I actually take it. If anyone wants to see pictures of the actual test, let me know. I'll also take picture of when I take the test. Not that anyone wants to see my pee, but I'm sure some of you are curious as to what it looks like when it's "done".

I've been doing hours of research on the internet about Intelligender this morning. Since I got the test and "think" it might be a fancy drano test, I just had to get some answers. I've been visiting all sorts of baby/pregnancy boards and doing searches. I found a really long, ongoing thread about the test at babycenter and this woman named Jamie (an obviously very regular poster) took the Intelligender test, hoping for a boy as she has all girls. The test confirmed boy, and she even E-mailed the company with pictures and they too confirmed that the test was a definite "boy" result. Well, she updated yesterday after her 18 week ulatrasound, and she's having another GIRL (the tech was 100% positive). The Intelligender test was wrong for her. :( She got her hopes up for a boy because of it.

Now, I don't know if I want to take the test. I was so hopeful that this company might be "the one" to break into the early gender determination market with true scientific results and accuracy.

I have a severe problem with "thinking" my baby is one gender and it turning out to be another. I am a person who bonds easier with baby when I know the sex. I will feel cheated and violated if I take this test and bond with what I think is a girl/boy and it turns out something different. I wonder what they'll do if I e-mail them and ask for a refund?

I registered on this site because I just ordered and took this test (I was 11wks, 4days at the time. So I wanted to post a picture of what the test looks like because I know someone else described it. My results were "girl". I already have a daughter. I don't have any special hopes for a boy or a girl but my instinct says "boy".. so I guess we'll see. Unfortunately I don't have an ultrasound scheduled at all other than the NT scan and I doubt they'll be able to see anything at that point (I won't even be 13 weeks then).

There is both the link, and what is supposed to be the image. Sometimes it doesn't always work on forums. I'll definitely be back to post the results..but again, I'm not going shopping just yet.. I still think boy so we'll see! Good luck! I'll be waiting to hear some of your results as well!

Alright, what I find sort of odd is that my paper with the instructions are also pink. A girl on another site posted her pics of her kit too and she had a blue paper and her test came back with boy results. You seem to have pink instructions in the background and you got a girl result. Hmmmmmmmmmm.... just thinking out loud here. If this is not the real deal, I wonder if there's a coorelation between the color of the instructions and the result you get. I find it strange that they send out 2 different colors of instructions. Had I not seen pictures, I wouldn't know this. I know I'm sounds really skeptical and negative, but I just keep thinking that if my result ends up being wrong how mad I will be. I don't want to have this "idea" in my head of what my child will be and then have that ripped away from me. Even if the test says boy, I know I'll get used to that idea and to have that taken away would be devistating for me :(

Jennifer,

Just an fyi that might make you feel better.  My kit had a pink and a blue paper.  One was an instruction sheet and one was survey.  I don't remember which was which but I got a girl result.  The test was correct.  I can understand why people are skeptical but I think I have only read of one wrong result.  We'll see!  Good luck anyway!

Cupycake,

sorry so long to reply.  you asked if I felt different in my pregnancy with the girl/vs boy(s).  Without a doubt!!!  The most obvious thing is the fact that the hair on my legs is hardly growing.  Also, I have been quite a b*&#c.  I don't know how my DH puts up with me :)  must be all that estrogen.  The hair on the leg thing is so obvious it makes me think that anyone who has had both sexes should know without a doubt.

Good luck getting that little girl!

Well I bought some Drano crystals to compare, and the stuff in the bottom of the Intelligender test is nothing like Drano crystals. Drano crystals are tiny blue balls with metal flakes... Intelligenders formula is white and much finer (not balls) almost like a powder, with tiny flakes of metal. There's more metal flakes in the Intelligender stuff and it's also finer.

I just wasted $6.00, but it puts my mind at ease that they didn't just dump a teaspoon of Drano in a bottle and mail it to me!

Hi Jennifer.  I think that a little bit of scepticism is good in this case.  When BGM came out there were not false reports yet because so many of us were waiting for our 20 week US.  There will obviously be a delay in reporting errors until a good number of women come back from US.  I  understand that it is a different test, but the science was very plausible with BGM and some scientists were saying that it could work.  I haven't seen any scientists reaffirm that this test is accurate.  I did not go into my last pregnancy wanting one or the other.  I took BGM for the same reasons as you....just to have some fun.  It is hard when you bond with one sex and find out the other.  I really hope that if you do take the test, you results are right.  I only want happiness for all preggo ladies out there!!!  GL

AZHoliday, you can do 2D ultrasound(starting from $80) at 12.5 weeks onwards, they should be able to tell you the gender atleast 85% of the time, if it is a boy.

Did you make sure and buy the drano that is drano crystals?  They drano test only works with the crystals supposedly.  Also your test that you received in the mail more than likely is not drano because when the drano is mixed with urine it will melt a plastic container.  When doing the drano test you would want to use metal or glass (preferably glass) and definitely do it outside because of serious fumes.  My sister-in-law swears by the drano method.  She has 2 ds.
