Hi, just wanted to share this email I received from my mom.
I'd like everyone experiencing GD to feel like I did after reading this...
I enjoyed the story, and as you see, it's a good way to look at things in life. This really pertains to what we were talking about today. Life is full of ups and downs, joys and disappointments. There is rarely a moment when everything is so perfect that we wouldn't want it to change ever again. And it's probably just as well because we might all get bored with that perfect sameness!!
Anyway, take the joys that you have--dh, ds #1, and ds #2--and love and cherish them. Your little boys are so special and will become wonderful young men with your help and guidance. I think you do so well as a mother! I'm very proud of you and sometimes wonder where you get the wisdom and strength to handle it all. I know I felt totally inadequate as a mother at times, but you seem so natural at it.
I agree that a daughter/granddaughter would be nice, but let's not allow that to destroy the happiness we already have. We can't know in advance what joy or difficulty a girl might bring or any child for that matter. If you should decide to have a third child I know you will want to unconditionally accept that child, no matter the sex, because it would be too unfair to the child not to do so.
I'd say to limit your access to people who make you feel sad about this situation. Eventually you will find outlets for your "girlie" activities if that's important to you. For right now take pleasure in being the Queen Bee in your household, the "leading lady" in the lives of three men! Maybe you and I will have time for some of those "girlie" activities once I retire. And it doesn't hurt for your boys to develop a bit of the feminine side either because they will be better husbands and fathers for it.
Love,
Mom
P.S. I finally removed my toe nail polish, but hated to do it. It stayed so nice for so long. And that massage was wonderful. I could get real used to that sort of luxury! I think I'll try to find out what sort of lotion or oil she used on me because my skin still felt nice after I showered last night.
-lol at the comment from my mom. She just had her first ever pedicure!! Oh and I changed the names to dh & ds. She would never know what that means in real life!
