Olders mums and gender (poll included)

Conception after 35 - what was the gender of your child?

I am interested in the study (Finnish study) saying that mums 35 years and older have a 7%

increase in the odds of giving birth to a girl. So my question would be; if you did concieve

at the age of 35 and/or older than that, what was the gender of your child?

    • I had a girl (43.2%)
    • I had a boy (54.1%)
    • I had an early miscarriage & never knew the gender (2.7%)

I guess I'm not a "mature" momma because I'm 33 but wanted to share that my mom had me at 39, my grandmother had my aunt at 37, my great-grandmother had my great-aunt and 36, and my great-great-grandmother had my great-great aunt after 35 also.

Shel - I bet that counts LOL!

The results from this poll puzzles me - it is showing that it is the other way around with more boys over 35!

Could it just be from the fact that more boy-mums post here in the first place, trying to concieve again?

That all of us having that high PH-environment made us have all boys and "forced" us to

continue having babies up as mature mamas and that otherwise we would have stopped?? Just a thought.

My grandmother had both of her daughters over the age of 40, which was considered quite odd sixty years ago.  She and my grandfather were travellers (gypsies) and had both served in the war and so they met later in life.

She was an amazing woman, and I have fond memories of her. (Just thought I'd add that seeing as I mentioned her!)

My grandmother had my mom (the only girl) in her twenties and my uncle when she was in her forties. My friend had her 2nd son when she was 40. Another friend had a boy and a girl in her early forties.

Re: Olders mums and gender (poll included)

I had three children after age 35: Matthew (when I was 37), Leia (39), and Kara (41). I responded "girl" on the poll because I had more girls than boys after age 35. I used Shettles for Leia, but I didn't sway with Matthew or Kara. My husband is two years younger than me, and I would think that the age of the man would matter, too.
