I went to a baby shower this weekend and saw a lot of my friends there so i decided to tell them that we are expecting #3 becuase I was sooo nausiated that day i was just being weird...so anyway i told....and the reactions were....ohh... wow! r u serious? or just ohh....good luck....WTH is wrong with ppl? cant they just keep their stupid comments  to themselfes? I mean not even ONE congrats! Oh and my husband desided to tell his mom so she said ohh? and when should we expect the baby? so he said in jan. she said oh ok and had this horrible look on her face...i wanted to kick her out of my house at that point! everyone assumes that it was an accident as if having a 3rd child is crazzy!  it really upsets me...maybe its the hormones?

I got the "did you mean to?" from MIL.....she had 4 children what makes her think 2 was enough for us? 

You're not crazy.....then again I'm hopped up on hormones too.....Then there's my mom.....DNA and US say girl.....DNA!  She's still hoping for a boy~there aren't enough in the family.....seriously I'm 25 weeks pregnant.....it's a girl and I'm happy about it.....oh, then there's the, "have fun during those teen years with 2 girls!"  BITE MY BIG FAT ASS!!!!!  and it's gettin' big!

I think it's a pretty common reaction.  Two kids is normal, more than that is weird in some peoples' eyes.  I find myelf telling a lot of people that this is almost certainly our last baby, like I need to justify it.  I personally think that two is not enough, so don't let them get you down!

Boy your friends and family should meet me. What would they think of having another after 5. LOL.

My MIL was the same way though to me. She said 2 was enough. Stupid thing is she had 3. I am used to it though. And I try hard not to take what others say to heart!

 

I totally understand! I got the "are you crazy?" comments since mine are 9 and 12 years old. Or "you want to start all over again?"  you were almost done!" Now since I am having two people say " were you on fertility treatments?" uh I obviously can get pregnant people! Cant people just see a miracle when there is one? some people just dont want a big family i guess. I have always loved babies. I had my other two when I was so young so it is like starting over. I have accepted that I am having double the babies but I just hate comments like those above!

And the reality is that in the grand scheme of things baby & Toddlerhood are a fraction of time out of our lives~ It's so short lived.  So when I hear the, "Why on earth are you starting over again...diapers, sleepless nights, tantrums ugh!"  I always say it's a moment of time out of my life and I want  a life full of children AND grandchildren!

Argh!! I know EXACTLY what you mean!!!! It bugs me! Everyone is like "Well, just be thankful that you have two healthy boys." or "The prices of college is going up you know." or "Your crazy" or "Four kids huh? Well, I guess thats great. If you want that sort of lifestyle." Like it is a BAD thing! I try to not take it to heart but I just get bummed out when people see children as such a burden, instead of a blessing.

 

We have just started to tell a few people about our pregnancy and have had exactly the same reaction! What is wrong with having another baby?? Surely it should be something to celebrate!

and PS everyone who says a negative comment about a pregnancy is just jelious in my opinion. Either they had to settle on a lower number of kids then they had originally wanted and a jelious that your having more..or they just plain want to be you.

I agree...nothing brings out jealousy like a pregnant woman.  I hate that i'm so obviously showing now b/c I have to hear that crap, too.  The best was yesterday when my neighbor's sister said "Four boys?!?  Wow you really are glutton for punishment!"  I was like "Gee, thanks...."  I love the "positive reinforcement" I get on a daily basis! 

I'm sorry you got such dumb comments.  The dumb comments I get are mostly related to gender.

I've been meaning to ask if you ever contacted that u/s place in Bothell.  I went 2 weeks ago for the first time (at 12 wks), and will be going again this Friday.  Within a few weeks of sending in my application they called me.  It's easy, fun, and they give you $25!  I feel crazy driving there all the way from Tacoma, but hey, I'll do it for a free u/s!

no i havent gone there yet, im glad you reminded me though... do you have to go when they call you or can you choose not to? i dont want to have a lot of ultrasounds some ppl say they are harmful.... but i have the application i just have to get my midwife to sign it...

No, they just ask.  Like today when they called me- they asked if I want to come in this Friday from 9-10.  I said yes, but I just as easily could've said no.  I also learned that you can tell them what day of the week works best (if you have a preference).  Last time I went in I asked if they could make a note that I can only come in on Fridays, so they did.  They mail you a check; I think they said within 2 weeks.  I went in on the 13th and got my check on the 23rd.

I don't think people were too shocked with #3 when we announced it. SOME even said "I KNEW IT!" because I had always hinted at wanting more. NOW, I'm actually SCARED of announcing the news!! FOUR seems like a LOT of kids. I'm just REALLY happy that am in a positon to be able to have a fourth. I LOVE thatr I had my first 2 when I did, so that I could space it out. It is almost like 2 teams of kids--the older group and the younger group. SURE it is hard sometimes doing famiy activities---people are quick to point out that we all can't go to a movie or other things, but there is a LOT to be said for big families and lots of kids. SUCH a richness that you can never experience without having a large family. I DO think a lot of people are JEALOUS. Kids cost a lot, and are a LOT OF WORK! Many people want more but can't afford the time or effort. Just my 2c. :)
