So I've read that a new moon favors girls, while a full moon favors boys. But what about the end of the moon cycle? What does that favor?

 This sounds crazy, but I'm planning way in advance: I want my child to be born around mid-April of 2012, so according to the internet calculators I need to conceive in late July of 2011. (This is all in an ideal situation, of course. I know nothing ever goes this smoothly, but I enjoy having a plan.)

I looked up the moon phases for 2011 and it states that the "last quarter" of the moon starts on July 23rd, 2011. Would this be leaning towards a boy or a girl? (I'm hoping for a girl.)

(What's also very odd is that my ideal birth date for my daughter is April 14, 2012, and when entered into the internet calculators, it says that date of conception for this birthday is July 23, 2011. O____o A sign?)

The gender kit I have ordered has advised me that all my DS were conceived at a full moon or a borderline full moon so therefore I need to avoid this time and go for the new moon.

I noticed you mentioned that there are positive ions right up to the new moon.

I thought positive ions meant GIRl favoring?

Therefore I am confused by your statement.
