Need some hope..took TMPOB and now bummed..

    Hello everyone,

I've been around this board but never posted.  I should never have taken this test, but I did and now I'm just wondering if there is any hope.  I've read the below posts and I still can't shake that they are correct for me.  They ran my test 3 times.  The first time, it was inconclusive.  The second time, they said it was "clear boy" and very reactive, whereas females are not reactive at all.  However, the control was slightly reactive as well so they were worried about possible contimination of the reagent.  Today, they said that it's cleary, very reactive and boy.  Has anyone had them TELL you that your was either clearly reactive, BOY, or not at all reactive and GIRL and have the opposite via amnio, or ultrasound?  They are sending a kit for retesting.  I fibbed a bit, just to see what they'd say and told them that I just got my CVS results today and it's a girl but, of course they just said that there is no explaining this then.  So, I told them about the study where male DNA from previous pregnancies can circulate in maternal blood for years.  She said, "Well, that might be it then but I'm really stumped if you have a girl."  Whatever.  So, now, I feel as if I have seen about 3-4 late pregnancy scans all clearly showing male parts and I'm still trying to deny it.  FWIW, I am only 10 weeks pregnant, so no, we do not know by u/s but I feel like I know already.  Does this make sense?  Any input is welcome and will be comforting.

    Thanks so much.

I don't know a lot about the test, just what I've read on IG, but I think it's been wrong a lot for the girls on here.  I would never trust a test like this----you have to wait for the u/s!!!!!  GL!

    Hey there!

Im not sure about reactive results etc but when I questioned my boy results they said absoutley no contamination etc but yet I still didnt believe it. An ultrasound at 19 weeks confirmed girl and we were estatic! Dont give up hope yet, they are really inaccurate and its a shame that you, I and others will keep doubting the sex until our scans and delivery day cos this company really screws with your head.

By the way my son was 10 months old when I took the test, so I really believe that his DNA was still present in my bloodstream. Please forget you took the test and it wont be long till you can find out for sure.

I also took the test and it was wrong!! It told me girl - but I am definitely having a boy (I have seen the parts - ver clearly!)  TMPOB ruined my early pregnancy b/c I wanted a boy - I already have 2 girls.

I took the test around 8-9 weeks - and they did state that the accuracy increases with gestational age.  I would never trust this test - or wait a while and request a retest just to see if it changes...

I hope it all works out for you...

The problem here is that this test is not accurate.  You should not trust this result.  They could be right....but believe me, it won't be because it's a steller test....good guessing maybe....but definitely not reliable by any means.  I have told many girls that they ran my test 3 times too....and told me for sure it's a boy....and NO CONTAMINATION!!!  Well, I had a girl....and they go on now and tell me it was contaminated....uh...WHATEVER!!!  Nice comeback!

I have seen SO MANY incorrect TMPOB test results that IMO you have just as good a chance of walking up to some stranger on the street and asking them what the gender of your baby would be and getting a correct answer. Hang in there...I know it's hard but you're not too far away from being able to get a good gender id on u/s.

THANK YOU ALL!!  More stories welcome!  I was SO upset until I read this.  I was told NO CONTAMINATION too.  So, that made me think "Well, maybe mine is 'real' since they checked for contamination and didn't see any."  Then, I quoted the study about fetal male DNA in maternal blood for years and she said, "Well, that could be it then."  WHAT?!?!  After all that, that's you're way out!!  I just wish I had never taken the test, one way or the other.  I can't help but believe the results though!  It doesn't matter THAT much but messing with my head is worse than knowing, for sure, one way or the other!!!  Thanks again.  I really need this to realize that it was a 50/50 chance!

Let me just tell  you this...This test is a load of crap, with just some big fat man sitting around flipping coins.  Really, I believe this.  I had a boy result and was so upset.  I called them and they said it was a very STRONG boy result.  I lied too, and said I've had a ultrasound already and the tech is pretty sure that it is a girl.  (SO NOT TRUE). I just wanted another test. :(               I didn't take the re-test until I was 30wks......   My little boy result baby is a 2month old GIRL.    The re-test (at 30wks) came back girl and I got a refund in 10 days time.         This test is nothing!  If they got it right for you they were just lucky!!!!

Male dna can circulate in the mom for decades!
