This is my first post here and like many of you I would love to add a girl to our family! I have three wonderful sons 5, 3, and 1 and am pregnant with our 4th. I too am anxious to know the sex of this baby and so I have been researching on the internet different methods of determining gender! Obviously, there has been a lot of controversy surrounding gender mentor and tell me pink or blue, so I looked into urobiologics. I called them this morning and as someone else had mentioned, if you have had boys in the past it remains recognizable in your system for many, many years! The gentleman I spoke with advised against me using their test. So it seems as though this test is meant for women who have only daughters. I'm glad that they were honest and that I did not purchase this test.

Hi,
Welcome!! That is cool that they were honest and did the right thing by telling you not to take it. I wish other companies were as honest. Did you sway your odds for a dd? Just wondering. Wishing you lots of pink dust....

Welcome! A lot of pink dust for you! When is your due date? I can't belive that some people from those companies can be honest! My advise to you - just wait for your u/s that way you will have less stress! I took Pink or Blue test and it was very bad and painfull experience. Just try to relax and listen to your gut.

EDD May 31, 2007 - we just found out a week ago. It was a surprise to my husband and myself. We had decided that 3 boys were most likely it. I always told my husband that if we were going to have another one I wanted to put the girl in our favor by doing microsort or something of that nature - too late!! It seems were destined for a family of boys!!

What a great time to have a baby. I always tried to get pg so I can deliver in good weather. May was always my first choice. Maybe next time....lol.
As far as being destined for all boys...well, I would say, ya never know. Do you know when you ovulated? Everyone is supposed to have a 50/50 shot each time so try to think pink. You never really know what the universe has in store for you.....Pink dust.

I'm usually pretty regular, but the last few months have been 30 & 33 days. However, I took the pregnancy test on Sat Sept 6 and it was obviously +. It was First Response so it can detect 4 days before your missed pd, so that would have made this cycle a 28 day cyle. According to the CM method, Im guessing I ovulated around day 12 if I understand the whole method!! Any insight?

Did you bd on or near day 12? That is the big question. If you had at least a 36 hour cut off, that would put you in partial girl territory. The closer you get to O the more likely for boy, but really it just matters what kind of sperm met the egg.

Im not so convinced that you can do much to persuade the gender! We conceived my 3rd son on Christmas Eve without a doubt and that was day 7 of my cycle.

Hi whitneyzm,
I happen to read the British Scientist report as well as your first message and you got me confused.
The FAQs at urobiologics say that previous pregnancies or miscarriages
has no effect on their test whereas your message says that urobiologics
honestly advised you not to take 'their' test. I think by 'their' you
meant DNA based tests, right?, because BGM, tellmepink/blue and paragon
tests have this problem that Y thingy has been reported to float in
blood for 27 years. So, if you have 3 sons there is a greater chance
for DNA tests to report boy again, as I understand, by following
urobiologics for nearly a year, that they do not test for any DNA. Can
you clear this for me please?

Hi!,
I contacted urobiologics yesterday and spoke to an Indian man who told me that because I had 3 boys already, that the test would come back boy. He also quoted the 27 years for being able to detect "boy" in my system. The interesting thing was that I first asked him if previous pregnancy would foul up the test and he said no. I then went on to tell him that I had read something with regards to being able to detect boy after having previous boy pregancy and he said yes that is correct. So, I asked if I should use their test he said you may, but it will come back boy. On their website if you call their # you will get a recorded message, at some point it prompts you to choose pregnant or attempting I chose pregnant - in that message it will give you a phone # to speak to a live person. If you decide to call let me know, it would be interesting to hear what he tells you. Hope this was helpful!

I think with urobiologics they are doing the urine test and that is looking for extra testosterone right?? I think what is confusing is why they would assume you would have extra testosterone because you had 3 boys. Obviously, they think you could or they would have told you to take the test. Please someone correct me if I am mistaking how this particular test works. I think that the urine thing isn't a good idea anyway because women (like me) who have PCOS have more testosterone in their bodies to begin with. Now, if you add the two boys I already have....I'd really come up boy. I guess what I am trying to say, is that I definitely would be skeptical about urine based tests testing not DNA but testosterone...women have that hormone to begin with and then you add a health issue like mine (which is pretty common) and you are gonna have a lot of women unhappy.

I have been thinking about your conversation with urobiologics for so
many days now. Somehow, your message about them saying that if one has
previous boys the next urine test will also show boy didn’t click me. I
have talked to this guy several times and he seems to be clear what he
is doing. So I took a chance to call uro this morning about this issue.
He heard me and immediately reflected that I was the ninth person
calling them on this matter. He specifically said that you have messed
up the conversation and crossed the message. What I could gather, you
were asking him several questions about blood DNA test and comparing
with urobiologics’ procedure. He might have mentioned about a report
that mother’s blood carries previous fetal Y DNA for several years and
therefore there is greater chance that next blood test may catch that
material and report might come out as boy. By mistake you took it as if
urine test would indicate boy.
He has begged me to clear this issue because nobody has come forward
and logically discuss this point. He strongly said that they do not
estimate any DNA because urine has no DNA and that previous pregnancies
have no effect on the outcome of next urine test. Do you concur with
this view? Your repeated message might have confused several readers
here and elsewhere.
He also mentioned that he conveyed his concern to Maureen too, but of
no help. Had anyone else discussed this with uro? If yes, what was your
take?
Coming to my situation, samo samo. No BFP. Last cycle I went three days
over but dreams smashed. This is why I just lurk around but don’t feel
like posting anything. I just feel happy that everybody is happy except…

April,
Whatever you do, don't let their "knowledge" of this test sway what your gut might be telling you about it's validity. My gut always told me that there is no way (right now anyway) to really detect the sex of the baby besides CVS or Amnios. If this was a reality right now, your doctor would be able to provide it no prob. Wait until the nightly news reports it and validates it's accuracy. I know it is hard to wait for that dreaded u/s because it takes soooo long. If you happen to talk with them again ask them about extra testosterone that some women may have naturally in their system....like me with PCOS. I would be curious to hear what they have to say. Either way, at the end of the day, I feel, this urine based test and blood DNA tests are not perfected. It is devastating to hear your having another boy just to have your gut and mind telling you NO, NO, NO!! This is what happened to me and I never wish I put me or my baby through all these feelings. When I thought this was a boy because P or B told me it was, I was so depressed and I know my baby felt this. When two u/s confirmed girl, I felt like a weight had been lifted from my soul. I wouldn't want anyone else to go through that. I am still traumatized by it!!

jojogirl,
"If this was a reality right now, your doctor would be able to provide it no prob."
I think this has been addressed before that at this time their
procedures are all manual, time consunimg, need expert handling and
they cannot do more than four cases a day (may be that is why they
aren't advertising much). Doctors would offer this only if it can be
done by any technician. Best is to email your concerns to urobiologics
directly.
Well this was off the point. The idea was to remove the confusion raised by whitenyzm.
